Do you exercise 7 days a week? Or do you give your body at least 1 day for rest?

I give my body a day for rest. It likes me better if I do.

I always take at least one rest day.. usually the day before my weigh in. It helps me to lose the water weight and just let myself rest. On my rest day I may go for a walk if it's nice outside but I stay out of my exercise room.

No. I don't love exercise so I aim for 3 days and I'm super proud if I manage 4. If I tried to exercise 7 days a week, I'd get frustrated and give up entirely. And my knees would start to bother me if I exercised 7 days a week. I can commit to 3 days a week for the rest of my life, but I honestly can't commit to more.

At least one or two days a week depending on how I feel.

I have a race this Sunday so I'm not hitting the gym today or tomorrow so I can be fully rested up.

Agree, if I go all out and do 7 days a week it isn't long before my body tells me this isn't working anymore!!

If I'm feeling super motivated and crazy, I'll go for a walk on my rest day so I still feel like I'm moving.

I do! I feel better about myself after a workout.
  • I usually do something like 10 in every 11 days. I guess the point is that there is no reason to take a week as your arbitrary measure of time... 7 days is pretty damn random anyways, eh?! Generally I go to the gym between 6 and 10 times before taking a day off for R&R.

4-5 days a week 45mins per day for me. That's enough, I despise working out, so I do it as soon as I wake up in the mornings and get it over with.

I will do something different on the weekend like a long walk or yoga. But it is something physical every day of the week.

Always at least one rest day per week for me, and sometimes more if I feel I need it. And occasionally I'll take several days or even a full week off. It's kind of nice to have a break.
  • I workout "hard" between 60-90 minutes 5 days a week, and for 25-30 minutes one day a week, and rest one. However my rest day is usually my errand running day so I'm out walking around town anyway,.

I weight train 4 days and then rest for a day. I usually do light cardio on that rest day.

I know I shouldn't, but I feel guilty that I do not work out everyday. I do feel my body needs a day to rest and let my muscles recuperate. I usually go to the gym M-F. My gym is in my work building, so I only have access M-F. On weekends I go for a run one of hte days. The other I still usually run around doing errands and housework, but usually no actual workout.

I take 2 rest days out of the 7 day week.
  • I usually exercise twice a day,6 days a week, 90 minutes in the morning and 60 minutes in the evening. 35-45 minutes of cardio each time followed by a few sets of whatever muscle group I am working that day. I just started this fitness pal diary, I am liking it so far, have heard some really great success stories on here. Very motivational.

I do have weeks of no days off of running here and there, but I do try to make at least one of those days a considerably easier, recovery-type run, or mix in some weights, etc.

No, definitely not 7 days a week. Most weeks it's 5 days exercise, 2 rest. Occasionally 4/3.

I always take Fridays off. I take time to hang with my family and just relax. Depending on how the week goes I might take off an extra day or two. I ALWAYS have at least four days in a week though. And I try not to take breaks days back to back.
