Any alternatives for fasting and/or cleanses?

I know that my liver, kidneys, stomach, and digestive tract get exhausted from doing their normal job of detoxing my body, so I've been fasting, and doing cleanses for several months now to give them a break and jump start my metabolic processes. Lately I've been concerned about my other organs though, namely my heart, lungs, and brain. Is there an equivalent to fasting and cleansing to detox them so that they can take a break, and then jump start their normal processes?

A friend of mine was ctually quite worried about this. He asked his Doctor and the doctor decided to hit him so hard he went into a concussion.
Apparently a concussion is the best way to detox your brain. He's still struggling with the heart and lungs though.
Hope this helps.

I watched this Documentery "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" It talks about health problems and food optiosn and what not, but mainly they talk about juicing. Its a 15day fast/detox of juist juicing veggitables and fruits to flush your system and revitalize organs and cells. It also helps drop weight. I recomend the film for further information.

Not sure if serious - but here we go
Your body is actually a self-cleaning oven. It can take care of itself completely as far as plumbing and only really needs help in special cases. Doing fasts and cleanses too often can rob your body of the healthy bacteria and enzymes and all that good stuff that does the cleaning. If it's all stripped, then you'll have trouble. So quit fasting and cleansing and using harsh methods like this to clean yourself out and allow your body to build back up all the stuff it needs to handle it itself. Doctors usually recommend doing these no more than 1-4 times a year maximum.
the only way to keep your heart lungs and brain doing well and clean is to watch your cholesterol, get enough sugar for your brain to run on and dont smoke. These things are all cared for by your blood and nutrition. Dont cleanse these things. Brain bleach aint real babe.
Please - trust your body to do its thing.0 -
nmind, im a fraking goddamn idiot again, I thought you were serious because you didnt put this in chit chat. Thanks for embarrassing people, youre awesome.0

Maybe try a coma?0 -
Never tried it but heard putting your head down the toilet and flushing it works wonders.0

Your organs do not need a break. They do not dream of Caribbean cruises, ski resorts, or yoga retreats.0

Coffee enemas. Don't forget to drink the coffee after0

I also watched that. Amazing what juicing can do!0

To give my lungs a break from their exhausting work, I try not breathing for 30 or so minutes at a time. Hmmmm that actually might explain a few things...0

Ask at your local health food store and of corse check with your doctor before you actually purchase and or use anything but alot of herbs will cleanse different organs. Or if you are concerned with your circulatory system then you could try an oxygen bar it is a bit expensive but you get I think 30 mins of pure oxygen LOL I guess you get a little high :P but it is suppose to be amazing for you.0

Anything that costs a lot and/or sounds too good to be true are the best IMO.
Or try the "self-cleaning oven" diet like someone else suggested.0 -

Speak for yourself. My organs need weekend trips to Vegas to function at their highest potential.0 -

I live in a high pollution area and take Vega Chlorella every day. 3 grams a day for the first 2 weeks, then up to 5 grams daily.
I have struggled and been on deaths door with a host of auto immune complications. Since starting 8 months ago I don't even need antihistamines to leave the house, haven't been sick once, and find portion control infinitely easier.
This product also is capable of causing an allergic reaction, so go very slowly. Don't read the junk online about people taking 20 grams at a time, yucky :-) More popular than Vitamin C in Japan was what got me curious.
Who knows, maybe all you need is a top notch deep tissue massage!
Good luck with everything!

Another benefit of going into a coma is the liquid diet! No eating to worry about!0 -

Do you think you could have a food sensitivity? Check out 'The Virgin Diet' I heard a podcast talking about it - its not fasting, just cutting out foods that are people are frequently intolerant to. You still eat as many calories as normal just from different sources.0 -
Obvious troll is obvious.
Nice try Admiral, you might have had me if your last name wasn't Derp. From one troll to another, I tip my hat to you sir.

For your lungs, start smoking Marlboro res, unfiltered. Heavily. Quit in a couple months. Your lungs will be happy once again. Basic trickery.
For your brain, have someone bash your skull with a shovel.
You're welcome.0 -

I recommend TMS for the brain.....will temporarily disrupt neural firing using essentially a large magnet, and give you a jump start0 -
