My husband knows who to contact in my phone book, and they would spread the word to the friends on here I don't have contact with outside of MFP.

In case, god forbid, he were to perish with me, my mother also knows who to send a message to.

My MFP friends are more than people on the internet to me. I'd make sure they'd know.

If I died, MFP would know within 24 hours.

They COULD know within the hour, but the people on here that know me out here in the real world, would know that MFP would not be the place to post that immediately. They'd probably wait a few days.

...Or never tell you because yall kilt me and they want the subpoena to be a surprise.

So my A.D.D. got me to thinking.... If I die, none of my fitness pals will know. That's kinda sad..

I feel like the people I know in 3D don't log in enough to know how important ya'll are to me, and wouldn't think to inform you.

but I guess, it wouldn't matter anyway... i could be a 10 year old boy for all ya'll know right?

I had a friend that I met on another message board. We'd email each other a few times a month. She got brain cancer, was operated on and thought she kicked it and then a year or two ago it flared up again. I would always send out the quick email asking how she's doing etc. but I have not heard from her since. I've sent her a few emails to all the accounts I know she has and they've gone unanswered.

I will never know whether or not she passed on, is ok or what happened. She had a food blog she used to keep up with and that hasn't been updated in over a year.

I've gone so far as to search for obituaries with her name and where she lives but I haven't come up with anything. It's kind of sad and scary. I mean we weren't best friends but still. It would be nice to know she's ok. Or not.

ETA: And if I died tomorrow I don't think anyone on MFP would know since I don't talk to anyone on my FL IRL.

Im remembering how many posts I have seen where people say they were deleted by "friends" because they hadnt posted in a week....how many others were deleted by so called friends when they had actually died. We will never know...

Honestly? A little because I know I'd notice if certain people were missing from my FL.

Actually ONE person would know/notice and that's only because she lives about an hour away from me and I'm friends with her in real life.

I know you're joking but sadly, the MFP community did lose someone last year...we weren't close but she was on my friends list--I heard about her death from another MFPal that was her real-life friend.

I guess you just establish "real life" contact with any peeps you want to alert to your impending death? I dunno...
