A lot of people seem to have a hard time with the difference between:

    I don't like tomatoes.

    and

People should be punished for liking tomatoes.

I cringe a little every time I hear "people who do/think _____ should be shot." Like... really?

No I don't think opinions are shaming.

However, there's a difference between someone asking for opinions/advice and getting just that, and someone who posts what they see as a success story, and getting negative comments.

In the latter, there is just no need to go "I don't like..." Sure there are more polite ways of putting it: "Not my thing" vs "that's disgusting" but still, is there any point? Especially if the OP is posting their own personal success, it's just hurtful to hear criticism. Why not just leave the thread?

I would post my non-positive opinions only if someone asked for it basically. (not in a disrespectful way) To ask for honest feedback, and not like the range of opinions, I think you're just being too damn sensitive!

It is not shaming to have an opinion.

However, I once had a gal de-friend me because I said in a post that I don't like guys with ginormous muscles. She berated me for body shaming and de-friended me, to which my response was 'well frack you too'. Do I respect the hard work and discipline that goes into that? Yes, of course. Do I want to take them home and see them naked? No. Just like opera: I admire the hard work, but don't want to listen.

This is exactly the scenario I had in mind when I wrote this post.

A few years back a friend and I were talking about women we liked. At one point he said he wasn't attracted to black girls. Then he looked embarrassed and apologized to me. I'm like, why are you apologizing? You can like, or not like, whatever you want. We're friends so say whatever you feel without apologizing for having an opinion you think I might not like.

Besides, that just leaves more women for me.

I agree. People should be shot for saying that.

As long as people don't say "eww".

What if they say "ewe" instead?

Ok, why do people insist on bringing farm animals into this?

All I know is that if a woman ever asks if some clothing makes her look fat, the correct answer is, "No. It is all the fat on your body that makes you look fat. The clothing just doesn't hide that fat very well."

And if a guy ever asks that, the correct answer is, "Shut up."

I am not above goosing you. Also, if you insist on playing this little game of cat and mouse, you'd better be a little more dogged about it.

Hay, that's enough of this horseplay. You're hogging all the best jokes and it's getting corny.
