    this has actually happened to me twice. except replace "best nighty" with embarrassingly short butt shorts for sleep and replace "living room rugs" with a piece of toast blackened to red cinders in the oven and on a separate occasion the whole toaster oven on fire.

    not. embarrASSing. at. all.

    ETA. they were years and years apart, different places I lived and both complete accidents. i didn't even call the first time someone else saw the smoke and called. they were literally already on my balcony when i got out of the shower a neighbor had called. second time i called my husband first but he told me "ur gonna have to call them, sorry honey. and dont go back inside i dont care what you're wearing, it's not safe." so there. not my fault. at all. except i should probably learn how to cook. lol.
