    Thankfully my mic isn't working. I used to think I had a fairly deep voice. Imagine my dismay where my husband recorded us saying "Happy Holidays" to his family and I discovered I had a girly voice.

    If one of you English gents would be so kind as to recite a little poem my husband used to tell me, I would be extremely grateful.

    What do you do
    When you have to go poo
    In an English country garden

    You pull down your pants
    and you fertilize the ants
    In an English Country garden

    opheliaphoenix, you have a lovely voice. Haha. I know what you mean about people expecting you to have a Valley girl accent. I'm from SoCal and when I was living abroad, people refused to believe I was from California because I didn't have a beach or valley accent.

    Aw, I want to play, but my computer mic does not work. :frown: Maybe I can somehow do it through my iPhone? Not that my voice is exactly a prize specimen :huh:

    This is a really awesome idea for a thread, though. Gonna go creep on all the accents now.

    Aw, thank you! :flowerforyou: I've had one or two people guess Oregon and one person was as specific as guessing the Seattle, WA area in particular, but that's about as close as it has gotten. (Not sure what someone from Seattle is supposed to sound like, but apparently this person had a pretty specific mental image of it, lol.) I think the only time I may have the slightest hint of preconceived "Californian" is when I talk really fast out of excitement, haha.

    *chuckle* It took several tries, not because of any issue with my voice, but because my mic is ridiculously sensitive and I had to keep fiddling to find a spot where the whole thing didn't dissolve into a series of cracks, pops, hisses and breath sounds.

    Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. It's great hearing the subtle nuances between accents, and I'll never stop being amazed at the variation of those from my own fair isles either. Loving the Scottish lilt, and I have to give a big up to the Bristooo accent. Gert lush fella!

    Awesome! I can't believe I actually got it right, but...yay! :drinker: I will cherish your e-money forever, lol. Also, I saw you were in CT, so I mentally traveled down the East coast until I came across what I thought would be a fairly "unaccented" place. Just happened to be Florida, ha.
