I'm confused by this....
First: What is this DIET you speak of?
Second: You're still the same person regardless of weight, so, it shouldn't matter too much. Yes, looks matter, but at the same time that girl isn't necessarily going to be waiting around for you to feel more confident in your weight.
Better to just go for it. If she says no then continue improving your own life and self, making yourself happier, and then later on, go for it again if you still want that person badly enough. Persistence isn't always a bad thing.
