Tired of people saying "Girls shouldn't lift, girls don't need muscle, lifting makes you bulky!"?
Or others using Marilyn Monroe as an excuse not to get off the couch & get healthy?
Well, show them what their favorite beauty icon spent her mornings doing!

This is a great thread. And anyone who knows weightlifting would know the size of the weights don't matter, it's what you do with them. Good form and focus on the movements and body are key. Heavier weights would come naturally later for most people.
Great pics! Thanks for posting them!0 -
OMG I hope she didn't really wear makeup to the gym.0

She looked gorgeous even working out! I love her and love these pictures. Totally stealing the first one for my avatar. Thanks for sharing.0

And this is a (the?) woman who trained Marilyn Monroe--This is Abbye "Pudgy" Stockton:

Wow this is great! Everyone should see this- whether they are for or against women lifters!0

love this post. women don't have the hormones to "get bulky" like men do. Lifting weight will make women lean, stronger and healithier.0

This just made my day! I love Marilyn Monroe and it is such a great inspiration! Thanks for posting this0

I love Marilyn Monroe, she was beautiful. It is a shame that by Hollywood standards today she would be bullied into losing that GORGEOUS figure, by some producer that told her she was FAT.0

she was a smart blond0

I don't think that would happen, She was curvy, but very tiny.0 -

I don't think the poster was that far off. Before they were famous, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence both got criticized for being too "fat" for the industry. Johansson's body type even looks like Monroe's, to me.0 -
I totally this thread!
I never knew that about MM but am definitely a fan0 -
This is the coolest post ever. Well, except maybe the Kitties gif thread. Don't hate me.0

Thanks for sharing this - love her!!! I have always been told to stay far away from weights, but this is great motivation! She was a beautiful woman!!! )0

According to her dress maker, she had something like a 22 or 23 inch waist. That's a size 0 for jeans today. So...no. Nobody would call her fat, stacked maybe, but not fat.0 -
That makes her even more sexy.0

this thread!
She had a really curvy figure though, and the squats explains the bootie!
(P.S., She was only "big" when she was pregnant and for a short time when she filmed "Some Like It Hot." Check her out in "How to Marry a Millionaire" or "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" standing next to actresses who were considered thin even by that generation's standards.)0
