Awesome! I need to show this to my little Marilyn look-a-like cousin who's always trying to figure out how to get her waist down!0

Thanks for the photos! It was well known that Marilyn did lifting, but I hadn't heard of her trainer, and loved those pictures too! I'm going to look her up. I didn't even know that women's bodybuilding existed back then, although I know there was a lot going on with men. She must have been quite unusual.0

Theses are probably publicity pics .....or not...Either way girls can lift weights all they want ,it will help tone up are muscles ,we
won't bulk up cause we don't have as much Testosterone ....So happy lifting0 -
I love the pics and I hope she did lift and that Pudgy Stockton was her trainer. But, I had heard that these pics were taken as a modeling shoot, and that she was doing a "Pudgy Stockton" style photo shoot. I had only read this and seen these photos when I was looking up Pudgy Stockton.
And again MM had a 22 inch waist, she would not be called fat. Some people might, but only because there's always crazies that say crazy stuff.
Well, I just looked it up quickly and it does seem Pudgy Stockton may have trained her and that was what led to the sport's themed photo shoots.0 -

This is great, thanks for sharing!0

I love Marilyn Monroe, she was beautiful. It is a shame that by Hollywood standards today she would be bullied into losing that GORGEOUS figure, by some producer that told her she was FAT.
I don't think that would happen, She was curvy, but very tiny.
I don't think the poster was that far off. Before they were famous, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence both got criticized for being too "fat" for the industry. Johansson's body type even looks like Monroe's, to me.
Jennifer Lawrence is still labeled as being on the "heavy side" for Hollywood. How ridiculous is that? The most amazing actres , never taken an acting class in her life and she is called heavy. Not to mention is she is anything BUT heavy!
I just don't get the fascination with being size 0. It is so not as Sexy as being fit and strong!0 -
Wish I had had one of these pics for the thread on how lifting makes you lose your femininity!!0

Thanks for sharing this - love her!!! I have always been told to stay far away from weights, but this is great motivation! She was a beautiful woman!!! )
Who has told you THAT?! You need to boycott any advice they try to give you from now on.0 -

Meh little pink weights
Lol my thoughts exactly.
Glad the other person posted MM's trainer lifting heavy.0 -
Wish I looked that stunning when I lift weights. Even if I come from work to the gym with a full face of make up I end up looking more like a member from Kiss not Marilyn Monroe by the time I sweat like a pig0

I'm sure she did, too, if and when she lifted not for a photo shoot.0 -

Meh little pink weightsmarilyn monroe is overrated
You've missed the point. The point wasn't to say she is the best & strongest lifter.
I know those weights aren't very heavy, but I think these photos are a good start for those few girls who are deathly afraid of dumbbells or anything non-cardio. If I would've showed a fitness model, they would've started worrying about looking too muscular or wtv it is people say about fitness models. I myself don't get into the "Marilyn Monroe" thing but I know she is important & a role model for a lot of girls I know (especially when it comes to esteem/body issues). Marilyn would mean more than some fitness model.
It's possible Marilyn did lift more than that but was just told to pose with an empty bar (Since photo shoots take long & they probably didn't want her to sweat). In her pics, she has a good set of quads/calves!
And she does a lot of calf raises... I'm sure she put on more weight when doing it at home. If you look closely at some of the pics, you can see some extra plates in the background a few feet away!0 -
Nah, I'm just jealous her trainer has bigger arms than me.0

Nice pics! Thanks for sharing.0

This is great!
But all I can think is that I'm thankful for the invention of the sports bra! Those poor women!!0 -
This is a revelation to me, I love Marylyn and both my daughters do too, can't wait to show them these pictures, thanks OP0
