Must try some Cat juggleing

Calorie burn can vary from weight and size of cats juggled and how "energetic" (read:mad as all get out) said cats are during the juggling. Proceed with caution.
  • As someone who has never in the past really had to worry about her weight (and has a 9 month old and a belly (for the first time!!) to lose) excellent excellent information. Easy, concise... I put my weight loss goal at a pound a week here on MFP, and it spit out 1400 calories a day!! I exercise almost daily, either running around after the tyke, or taking him with me for a jog, or going to the gym, not to mention the fact that I breastfeed... 1400 calories is too little!

Just an FYI - you can log breast feeding under food intake in your diary and it will give you a negative value so you get extra calories.
MFP also expects you to log exercise and eat it back which would give you more. A lot of people find OP's method much simpler, just giving the background.

And we definitely want to ensure adequate nutrition for mom when mom is feeding baby. A number I hear a lot is add an extra 500 calories per day to your TDEE if you are breast feeding. Those are pass-through calories that are for the baby.

got to say this is very well written. I'd say you covered 'the basics' but it would be more accurate to say that you've covered 'what really matters'.

And done without a hint of condescension or a 'know it all' attitude. Really, bravo!

    Here, here!! :drinker:

this is where I get confused. So do I set MFP to my BMR with my activity set to sedentary and eat back all of my calories - or do I set my activity to moderate set my MFP to the TDEE and log my exercise and eat back all of my calories?

I haven't seen much movement in the scale, so I don't know if setting my BMR to 1300 and eating back ALL of my exercise calories (I put in that I have an active lifestyle) is backfiring - and I should eat less or if I am not eating enough.

    My BMR is 1335
    My TDEE is 2070

I burn about 500 calories 4-5 days a week exercising and on those days eat about 1700-1800 calories
