getting fat again :(

Feel like such a failure my weight is creeping back up and my bad habits are coming back! I'm finding it so hard to snap out of this self destructive mood and get back on track! Other parts of my life took over and I'm ruining all my hard work!

has anyone else been here and what did you do to get back on track?

I'm there right now. From October of 2010 to July of 2012 (so a very long time) I lost 47 pounds. 190-143. I lost the last 10 pounds fast, without really trying so I ate more and quit working out, scared that I'd end up under 140 pretty quickly (I'm 5'11, it wouldn't have been pretty). So, I told myself I could eat whatever and be lazy. From July 2012 to now, I've gained 10 back. My happy weight is 147, I'm at 153 as of yesterday. I started back to my old, good habits from last year and hoping to get back to my good weight by June.

It's easy to lose track and it's hard to get back, but everyone has their "triggers", mine was seeing that I was up 10lbs from my low - you'll know what yours will be when you get there. Good luck!

Im sorry to hear that..i have been there done that and been back around!
Just make small changes so that you ease your way back in..thats what i try to do..maybe today i just log my food no matter how much i eat. Tomorrow I will try to eat some better foods, like fruit with my breakfast. Adding something everyday just helps you get back on track slowly..Small changes lead to bigger changes!

I used to do WW a few years ago and just to just to point where my heart wasnt in it anymore..i had lost almost 40 lbs..i had to fight tooth and nail to lose back what i gained, which took way less time than to lose it! LOL and I felt ashamed and like a failure..but this isnt the easiest thing for many ppl..its a mind set that we need to work on changing and that is hard!!
I still struggle with doing it all (logging, eating right and moving)...some weeks i can do one but not the other!

Keep telling yourself you did it..you did it once and so you can no longer say you cant bc you did! Life happens..just remind yourself this isnt the end of the world!

If you need any extra support, feel free to add me.
    Jen :)

It's easy to gain weight again because you forget how hard you worked to get there in the first place. There is a added challenge of everyone getting used to you at your new weight and no one gives you kudos for keeping the weight off.

The vast majority of contestants on "The Biggest Loser" regain their weight. And they are under pressure for promotions and speaking engagements, and if these weight loss professionals can't manage to keep the weight off permanently, just imagine how hard it must be for the average person?

If you gain again, just start working on changing your mind set. Brain wash yourself back into the weight loss mindset. It may take a couple of weeks to achieve, but it will help you get back on track.

Oh, **** I thought maybe you were getting sick... just start working out again and eating right. Get it?

Your problem is very easy to solve especially since you've already done it. Oh and maybe most importantly, don't feel bad about it, don't give that failure stuff another thought.

You're fine, no crisis, still a badass, just get back to it, you've already proven you can and at this point you can take it easy while you loose the weight since it's not much you've gained back.

First off, take a deep breath! Don't get yourself in a panic about your weight.

Secondly, try to determine what has caused you to "slip". What is causing you to go back to your old habits? Write it down if you have too!

    Example:
    My job
Too tired when I get home to cook something healthy
Had one bad day, now whats the point of continuing if I can't stick to it?
    I felt starved and unsatisfied
    I lost my motivation

Again, those are just examples, but they are common ones. Do any of these apply to you? The good news is that this is a LIFESTYLE change, so there are going to bumps in the road, and set backs. When you start to feel those bad days coming on, take a step back and regroup. Ask yourself why are you reaching for the junk food? Are you really hungry, or is it just boredom, anger, etc. Check in with yourself. We all lose motivation when it comes to exercise, but sometimes you just have to do it. Fight through the laziness and the "I'll just do it tomorrow" talk and get your butt into gear. The motivation will come! We all know that we feel better AFTER the workout, we just have to START the workout!

Remind yourself WHY you wanted to make the change to be healthier. Kids, health, etc. Remind yourself why it is important to you. 6 months or even a year from now you could be where you want to be, instead of regretting giving up and having to start over again.

And yes, when we are losing the weight, it feels great to get the compliments, and they keep us motivated. When we reach our goal, the compliments slowly die off because we've reached our goal. But don't hesitate to compliment YOURSELF. Look in the mirror and compliment your hard work, your determination. Be good to yourself!

    I hope this helps!

    Good luck!

I like to share this with others. It has helped me a lot in the past!

Uplifitng words though not always easy to follow. I've been there...many times. I'm back after two years, and a 20 lb weight gain... You can't focus on you 'failure'... there is no win or lose, we aren't competing with anyone but ourselves. You're in a moment with no motivation? Keep logging on, working out and counting calories...after you've done that for a few days you're sure to feel better. As alcoholics will never be able to have another drink withour falling into the abyss, maybe some of us won't be able to stay healthy unless we hyper-control this aspect of our lives...I know I won't, but it's a sacrifice I have to make. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

I tapered off on my exercising (but not on my eating) and began to re-gain weight. I watched as the the scale began to slowly go up, and felt bad about it. But I didn't have the same energy or eagerness to exercise as I did when I orignally lost it. Then I realized I was being a dope, because if I waited for that enthusiasm to return, it could be a long wait & the longer I waited the more I'd have to lose. So I just started back up two weeks ago. I'm exercising and not making any excuses about what I'm eating (so no "it was a hard day, I need this chocolate" or "I can only eat peanutbutter eggs in the spring") if I want to eat a special treat, I have to have the calories to do so (which means exercising), and special does not mean everyday, or a whole package

Oh - and figure out what your "on ramp" was from the first time you started -- did you start walking 1-2 times a week? 30DS? Do that -- don't worry about taking up from where you left off, and don't think about it as starting over. Just think about it taking a familiar road on a journey that ends with you feeling great - and just like last time, there is no rushing it.

Getting over my attitude was the hardest part -- it's the mental determination. And I'm starting to feel better about doing it -- and starting to anticipate what I'll be able to do now that I'm getting back into condition. I guess the more you do, the more you can do (& want to do).

I think the best thing to do is to drink a ton of water today and go for a run. Sometimes exercise is the best way to get back in the game because it makes you feel good and motivates you to fuel yourself with healthy foods that make your body feel good. Another thing that sometimes helps me is making a to-do list of things I'd like to get done around the house that I've been putting off. Then I tackle a few of those things on my list and go for a run. Try it, you will feel fantastic!

Yeah don't forget the first step in doing something is to start. Once we start something, we usually see it through.
