I was just told, "Drinking 2 Gallons of water a day isn't very much!"

REALLY?!?! I am pretty sure it is...unless you are a fish. Give me a break!

One of my co-workers believes she washes all of the starch out of rice by rinsing it first. That makes rice non-starchy.

I have type 1 diabetes, and one I hear regularly is that cinnamon will cure my diabetes and/or that eating anything will cure my diabetes. Um, last I checked, no matter how much cinnamon (or anything else I eat) my pancreas will still be broken. Because, you know, I'd choose to live with this disease for the rest of my life if it was simple to "cure" as just eating one magic food.

I am diabetic also. I wish I had a dime for every time I had heard this. LOL

'Clean eating' is necessary if you want to lose weight/see any changes.
It's possible to gain weight on a calorie deficit.
You need to work out like a madman to lose fat.
Artificial sweetener is worse than sugar, END OF.

    I feel you girl :flowerforyou:
And I love when people tell me that I got type 1 diabetes because I ate too much sugar.
    Really?

there are other ways to get your protein....

    ...than what?
    Eat meat?
    Eat peanut butter?
    Drink baby's blood?
    Guzzle [insert sexual joke here]?
The only way I know of to "get my protein" is to eat things that have protein in it.

Not really a myth, but it kind of bothers me when people remind me of the evils of hot dogs. I am not a frequent hot dog-eater, but when I eat them, I know they're made of lips and butts and nitrates and leftovers and stuff. I know that only eating hot dogs all day every day isn't good for you, but if you tell me that something is so evil that I should NEVER EVER EVER eat it, it'll just make me want one more.

Just an aside: Now I want to start a band called "Lips and Butts". People will think its in reference to brown-nosing, but you will know its about hot dogs.

My hotdogs are made of soy lips and butts, but the term "lips and butts and stuff" just made me crack up.

Wine only turns to alcohol if you let it sit out. Vodka goes bad once opened.

(I'll give a [low carb] cookie to anyone who gets the reference.) :)

    arrested development lol

i heard on one of those doctor shows that you should have a cocktail with EVERY meal

No it's not the SOLE factor. Other factors come into play as well.

That you should drink water like it's going out of fashion and that it doesn't count if it comes from anything other than plain water.

My mother tells me this all the time. I just say "Okay, I know." Even though I'm really thinking, "That's not true."
Anything that you eat after 8pm will turn into fat.

My husband tells me this. I just tell him "Ya, whatever."

99% of posts in the food and nutrition subforum. Where to start?

That pretty much sums it up, outside of "Diet Coke cancel the calories in <your favorite food indulgence>"

My aunt wouldn't eat bananas. She said they make you fat.

    You should avoid the following:
    - dairy
    - fat
    - carbs
    - red meat
    - fruit
    - eating anything after 8pm (to be fair I did used to believe this one!)

    hhhmmm....:grumble:
