I don't drink and eat, but if I'm hungover, watch out. Foodfest!

Me too! usually want a big ol burger when I am hungover!0 -
Been there, done that. The best thing to do is to start your healthy routine again. If you need help with drinking, get it. It will not get better by itself. I had to quit completely. Once I got home (from work) there was always something brown in a glass, in my hand, and down my throat. I was a functional alcholic. Had to turn to Christ for help. Now I never touch the stuff. I know I was headed for trouble. Haven't had a drink in over 8 years. Yeah for me. Good luck to you.
You must acknowledge what you want to change. You're on the way. Admitting you have a problem is half the battle. :flowerforyou:
Thank you for sharing.0 -
I love this because I have done it before, and as long as it's not habitual, I find no shame in it. I just don't log it I'm an unashamed lover of alcohol. Yesss...! Wouldn't life be grand if we could all be a little bit buzzed all the time? I think people would love each other more and fight less.0

I had the same issue when I drank wine. All inhibitions about eating left, and I would eat much more for my dinner than I would without the alcohol. I also only really drank in the first place to feel that buzz, as I hate the taste of almost all alcohol, so now I don't drink at all, other than maybe a small bit at Xmas. I feel no need, and I have issues with binge eating enough as it is, without the wine to add fuel to the fire.0

Sounds like me every second weekend but I log my dancing.0

I am in same boat regarding booze & food, but I did make bold decision last weekend not to go to a local beer festival because I knew that as well as beer there would be "nibbles" like chunks of cheese, bowls of crisps, peanuts, pickles onions etc.
I went last year [in my fat days] and just drank & scoffed, so was determined to avoid the temptation this year0 -
I'm very impressed you a) remembered everything and b) still had a chocolate Easter bunny left!
Check out my food diary - I have a separate booze section. It helps me keep an eye on it! Though I'm not a huge binger, it's the alcohol calories themselves that bother me.0 -
That's how I got to this size in the first place. Hubs and I are terrors for a glass before dinner, then another, then some with dinner, then more with cheese and biscuits.........
Since I've been on this lifestyle change I weighed my glass of wine (our glasses are 1.2 MFP servings) and I look at what calories I've got left for the day before I pour that glass. If I want something before dinner I have a G&T (slimline) - its easier to keep to one as its a longer drink and can't be topped up. Then once I'm actually eating I can limit myself to one. I also try to save some calories through the week for a little more at weekends. And I pour the wine then put it in the fridge - much less topping up as I'd have to get p off my fat but to get the bottle
Since I've been followng this regime we've bought a LOT less wine (and even Hubs has lost 7lb becuase I only have low fat cheese and parmesan in the house, so he won't snack on it).0 -
I was craving alcohol last Friday...so bad:frown: ! I had some dark chocolate and some fried food (within my calorie goal). I completely forgot about alcohol:noway: ..Made a nice cup of green tea and relaxed...I tend to bing when I meet my friends...I agree my social life is not fun anymore now without drinking...I cant control my binges so I ignore it!I go for a run...I just want to become normal weight too bad..That holds me back! I now drink but in moderation....0

HAHAHA! I totally did this watching GIRLS last month. I was home all alone. I think I ended up drinking a bottle and a half of wine and eating half a jar of peanut butter.0

if I drink wine, I'm fine.. but if I drink booze, I will snack like crazy. so no booze for me, and red wine in moderation.0

i do it every weekend, still haven't found the sollution0

i like booze.
It's good stuff lol0 -
I'm beginning to think I'm like the only person who doesn't get the munchies while/after drinking. I don't even crave the early morning mcdonalds run for a big, greasy breakfast afterwards.
Anyway, we all have crappy days. Just gotta log it & move on. This slip up isn't going to ruin all your progress nor will it hinder your future until you give up and let it which doesn't sound like your plan so.0 -
This is me too! I can work out my triggers now. Weekends off - as those are rare...and like a drink with mates! But they are generally not fat like me! Stress at work...sometimes the shift is so full on....and then I will have a drink... or two that leads to eating rubbish.
Since joining MFP, I have become more alert that it happens and that I don't want it to .....I'm making healthier food choices generally, I now exercise, have clearer goals, which so far...is stopping me from this behaviour.....most of the time!
Hope you figure it all out...and get to where you want to be...good luck!0 -
I had to address this issue with my own health, as opening a bottle of wine meant I finished it in one sitting.
Since alcohol is my main treat in life and diet, I really focused on spreading out the treat- one bottle of wine over two days means two days worth of treat. I also used my extreme laziness to motivate myself ie. if I still have wine left for tomorrow, I can spend the rest of tomorrow in my pants playing computer games and not leave the house.
The only time I find alcohol affects my eating habits is when friends come over for a beer session. If I have a hangover, I need something from McDonalds- there is no other cure!0 -
I'm sorry honey, that post just cracked me up.
I've found that my food choices ARE affected by alcohol, but it depends on WHAT alcohol I partake of.0 -
I tend to not eat when I drink so I can get buzzed on less alcohol. Poor people solutions...

HAHAHAHA ditto! Although, I usually end up getting a small snack after I've gotten nicely buzzed on an empty stomach. IHOP at 3am on a Saturday night, best food EVER.0 -
You dont even know how much you just opened my eyes. I have this same issue. I beleive it is time for me to put the drinks down and focus on my life. ... it may be another huge hurddle I need to achieve.0

I have not tracked in days because of this.
Thursday ended up being a drinking/eating fiasco, which sent me on an unhealthy weekend. Once I give in on my diet, I want to keep giving in, going out to eat, carbing up, etc. I didn't get intoxicated all weekend but I ate unhealthy and didn't track. Last night was the same, and I looked in the mirror today and saw the weight gain.
It sucks but it happens. I'm not weighing in currently (am looking for a 1nc a month weigh in) but I'm sure it slowed down my progress. Either way, my bad habits have been with me much longer than my good habits, so I know it will be a struggle at times and I will fail, but that's okay as long as you keep moving forward.
Kudos for staying accountable!0 -
ha! That was my after-work yesterday; NBD..... as long as it is a once a month thing.0

Haha, this^
and the fact that I can be a pretty self-righteous drunk. I start talking about my new healthy lifestyle to the people I'm with and I feel like I have to prove it to them... no drunk eating!
Glad you owned up to it though. Although alcohol doesn't make me eat quite like you did, I definitely have those nights where I'm tired, stressed, and sad and I will eat just about anything I can get my hands on. BED is a pretty serious thing and I don't think enough people are willing to admit that it's a problem for them!0 -
its called AA ...use it ..regularly...
No don't. There are other ways if you need help. That's a bloody depressing place to have to go forever when you don't have to.
Please enlighten us.
It's actually a place full of happiness, hope, love, and support. Changed my life completely.0 -
This post struck a nerve with me! And made me absolutely wet myself at 'dancing around to you tube videos for an hour and a half'   I am the exact same and I can never just have one! I can however just have 3, and I bought an optic so I know exactly how much I am drinking and I feel so bad about it I am trying to limit myself but I enjoy it so damn much its hard! Keep telling myself the guilt I will feel and the unhealthy breakfast Il no doubt want the next day isnt worth it so far ... its not really working so interested to see some other ideas!
Good luck to you all0
