Whew!! All of you put me to shame! Ran my first 5k almost a month ago with a finish time of 38:10... I was damn proud of it though, especially since in training I had trouble getting under 40. Best of luck OP!1

I'm gonna make all y'all feel better and say that I WALKED my first 5K last weekend, and it took just over an hour. Doing another this weekend, and hoping to get it under 50 minutes.1
-
Used to be 40 mins. Now it's 25 with very little effort. Persistence pays off.1

Fastest 5k with jogging stroller: 29:52
Fastest solo 5k: 28:01
For some reason I thought there would be more of a difference.0 -
My first 5km was a little over 30 minutes, that was 10 years ago and I haven't stopped running since. My current time is just under 20 minutes but I'm hoping to be under 18 minutes by the end of this year.0

Interesting tread. Next 5K I do I'm really going to push it. Will be interesting to see what I come up with.0

My first 5K is next month, my most recent time during training was 29.200

If your running 25 minutes with little effort you have huge potential ! You start running under 22 minutes and you will win the odd race or place in the top 3 of your age category.0
-
My first 5K was 30 minutes. My PR is 26:14. My goal PR is anything UNDER 26 minutes. LOL.0
-
My fastest 5K ever: 23'31" but I'd like to get around 210

According to Runtastic last one was 25.23. I'll try again in a few days and see what happens. Dunno if I'll be able to make 22, but close to that would be good.0 -
It took me 3 years to go from 25 minutes to 22 and then another 3 to go sub 20. Anything is possible if you stick with it.0
-
Official race time was 33.44! Goal by august is under 30.0

fastest 5k = 25:18
i actually placed 3rd in my age category that year, much to my great surprise. i think i was... 25(?) y/o at the time. maybe 26. couple years ago.0 -

I walk mine. I cant run to save my life haha. I believe it took me about an hour for the last one I did. I say hoooooray for us, at least we are getting out there!0 -
I'm at about 39 minutes as of now....I still have 3 moths of training, hopefully I can knock a couple minutes off!0
-
That's fantastic! I hope to be that fast one day!0

28:20. Hey I'm 52. I'm going to try to get under 25. : )0

You can do it!! My first 5K time was 33:26. Trained 3 months and went from about 37:00 to 33:26. Good luck and Have Fun!0 -
Sigh...
Best time is around 35:30. Typical time is around 38. I haven't made much progress. But I have successfully added distance and completed my first half recently. I'm just not built for speed lol.1 -
I just did one tonight around my neighborhood... Round and round and round my neighborhood lol... Took me 37:03 minutes, but I am not a fast runner at all.1

My very first 5 was 34:04 - did a few after which didn't go as well due to new guides or whatever so those were in the 40-minute range, then had an accident and got sidelined for 3 months. First 5 post-injury was 40:58 and got better from there, at a 10K I did 2 weeks ago when we reached the halfway mark it was 38:25 - doing a 5 on Sunday and we're hoping for a faster time than this0
-
26:02 is my best training time. I don't yet have an official race PR since the only 5K I've run was a 1/4 mile short. I really want to get it under 25 this spring.0

If you're curious, you can check some times and see what your age-grade would be. This is how you stack up against others in your age/gender and against world records.

Thanks for posting that link, I've never seen that one before. Really cool0

I am training for a 5K too and so far can only do 5K in 49:52, but that is walking and running (very slowly), the plan is to straight up run tomorrow.0
