Ideas for my wife's bday.

So my wife's bday is Monday and I had a couple ideas.... I have been surprising her a lot lately with candle light dinners so i thought I would take a diff track. I want to get a baby sitter for tomorrow (that would be Nana lol) and surprise her at the door with roses. But then i am going to get her into the car and blindfold her. I am going to drive her to where I proposed to her and lay out a picnic dinner before i remove the blindfold. I will even pull out the old guitar and sing her a couple songs. I am not going to give her presents yet (that's for Sunday when the family celebrates together) but I have her new diamond earrings and a Mercy Me CD to go along with a day at the spa.
Does this sound OK? Should i go ahead and give her the earrings on the picnic or wait to give it all on Sunday. Also, should I do more for our little "date". Ideas/suggestions/advice always welcomed.
I love you all!!!! :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:
God bless you!
Ed

Awwwwwwww Ed there ARE still romantics left in the world and you're most definitely one of them!

I think you entire plan sounds perfect as it is, simply perfect because you came up with it and it's from your heart:heart:

I think the diamond earrings would be a lovely gift to give her on the picnic it just seems soooo right to do it then!!

Be interesting to see what others have to share  :flowerforyou:

The spa day she will LOVE!!

What a great idea! Your wife will love it.

As for the earrings, I'd give them to her at the picnic. It will make it that much more special.

I couldn't say it better! I almost wrote, "I don't know why I think you should give the earrings at the picnic, but you just should." I wasn't sure how to explain it!

  • Okay, I might get bashed for this but here goes......there is no way I would want to be married to you. I feel by reading all of your posts about all the "wonderful/romantic" things you say you do for your wife that there is an underlying current of BS running through it all. I would gag if my husband acted this way all the time. Just my opinion, but I think you are laying it on way too thick.

It's quite obvious that you care deeply about your wife & that you have put great thought into her BD. This sounds like a very precious BD & any lady would be lucky to receive such attention.

Probably go through a lot of vacuums with the two dozen rose petals on the floors every weekend.

I rolled my eyes at his idea too, but I'm not even close to being a romantic. I'm perfectly content with my husband giving me a pat on the back and saying "hey...uh....happy birthday." lol

I think it is telling that everyone injects their own life into what Knight is talking about. I may seem over the top to some (alot) of us, but that does not mean it's not true. His relationship with his lovely may be something that we don't have with our "others".

Perhaps Knight should put this in his blog rather than hanging it all out in an open forum post, but whatever. Just take it for what it's worth and wish him well. Don't rip him up for it.
  • I would much rather my husband continue doing the little things that he does daily, such as cutting up my apple for my lunch, than large showy displays. It means more to me that my husband realizes that because of arthritis I have a hard time cutting up apples than if he made a huge production out of my birthday or our anniversary.

Not to belabor this further but I am sure that Knight's wife has her 'apples' and Knight 'cuts them up' for her.

Doing the little things that we're not asked to do is love (to me). Surprising your other on birthdays and treating them extra special can't be a bad thing. Right?

I'm just trying to figure out why he feels the need to be so over the top all the time.....almost every post he mentions what wonderful things he is doing. Is this coming from the heart or is this guilt???? I also find it slightly odd that we never hear about the wife doing anything for him. Shouldn't this be a two way street....

It is what it is,,, we all have our own ways of being who they are. This works for Ed and Mrs. Ed, and more power to 'em. If I tried this my ol' lady would laugh her butt off - which is just as well, 'cause frankly I'd rather pull my own teeth out with a pair of pliers.

However, I have my own ways of being Casper, and I have my own ways of doing what I do. For almost 23 years we've done Ok, we're happy, and that's what's important. Ed and Mrs. Ed are happy too, and god bless 'em.

Give her the earrings at the picnic. If you steam a fortune cookie you can unfold it - do that and stick the earrings in there and fold it back up and bake it for a minute to reharden it. That'll make the surprise more fun.

Or is it? I keep biting my tongue, and maybe I'll wish I continued to do so, but I have a hard time believing this is for real. Sorry. Maybe it is, and if so, I hope it works for them. I'm not very romantic, so that probably colors my opinion, but if I were, and if I wanted my husband to do things like this, I think I'd feel weird about him first running it by a bunch of people who didn't know us.
