When people offer advice, stop being rude and degrading!
A lot of people go out of their way to try to help people in these forums. Every one who does goes about it in their own way.
If someone phrased something poorly, or is just having a bad day, and so their advice is unwelcome, I encourage everyone to take a deep breath and move on - rather than starting an argument about it with the individual, or starting a subsequent thread complaining about people on the site.
People on this site are EXACTLY the same as people in real life. You get cut off in traffic sometimes; you forget to use your turn signal. Someone is rude to a clerk at a store because they had a bad morning and were late for work and were just plain not thinking. Sometimes you snap at a loved one in a conversation because you're frustrated. Sometimes there are just miscommunications
If you are upset by the tone you perceive in someone's communication, think about all the other ways that they might have intended their statement, rather than concluding that your instant impression is correct. Another approach is to focus on the feedback that you find helpful, rather than the feedback that irritates you.
But being rude to the people who are trying to offer advice just starts needless conflict... it is very sad when someone gets 80% positive supportive advice, but wishes to engage in arguments and mudslinging with a 20% minority.
Good luck.

I'm here to learn about nutrition and fitness. Not for people to tell me I'm a pretty princess.
Asking the entire internet to be nice, the way you define nice, is ludicrous.0 -

but you are a pretty princess.
we're all pretty princesses here :'B0 -
We all just need to learn how to use criticisms and not take it all to heart. Sometimes people need a 'rude' awakening to understand their options.0

I was once voted most likely to be a MFP bully in the 3rd grade. No lie.0

Do what I do. Forget what posts you replied to and therefore, never know if someone's commented, rudely or otherwise, on the *kitten* you say! Huzzah!0

Well, if you're struggling to get 1200 in, no wonder you are rude...it's not your fault, tho...you're just cranky because you aren't getting enough to eat.
Sorry...I couldn't help myself. :flowerforyou:0 -
I would add that while, yes, some people on the internet are rude because they are on the internet, there are also many people who appear to take said rudeness on the internet much harder than if someone was rude in real life. If this was not the case, I would imagine that highways would be full of people just sobbing behind the wheel because someone changed lanes without signaling.0
