"Negative Calorie Food"

Negative calories are a myth. Think about it this way- there are animals that maintain their weight on a diet of grass. You could gain weight with eating only celery and cucumber if you tried hard enough :P
Note: Don't only eat celery and cucumber, you need lots of other stuff in your diet too!0 -
Hey guys...quick question. Have any of you heard of "negative calorie" foods??? I overheard a couple people talking about it at work, but didn't get the chance to ask more. Any ideas?
Hi,
It's not a "myth" no one seems to know what they are talking about so here you go.
What they mean is foods that take more energy to burn then they contain. The only food that I am aware of that is like this is celery, it takes more calories to digest celery then celery contains. I am unaware of any other foods that are like this but you can probably goggle your question and I am sure something will come up.0 -

I'm really sorry, but negative calorie foods are a myth, with the exception of ice and cold water.
A stalk of celery provides 6 calories, while its digestion uses up half a calorie.

Yes, but you are still likely to burn 6 calories, going to the fridge to get it and getting it ready to eat. :P0 -

I highly doubt it.
And anyway, any calories you burn doing that will be included in your daily calories anyway. You wouldn't log "Going to the fridge" as exercise, would you?0
