It's Saturday...and I"ve been craving a burger with fries all damn day!
So I went to every website I could think of to see how "cheap" calorie wise I could get it.
That was a pretty sobering internet search......
For any burger of any size (except the tiny value size stuff), I couldn't find a burger under about 550 (stripped down)...and a medium fry about anywhere was 430-500....I didn't have that many calories left.
So I said FU*K it! I went to the grocery store instead...ended up getting some turkey burgers, buns, and frozen fries (cheapest I could find)
Result: I had one double quarter-pounder turkey burger (420 w/bun)...and 2.5 servings of fries (300)
It was still a meal I probably shouldn't have had.....but I just HAD to have it....

Nothing wrong with a wee treat now and then. Mcds quarter pounder meal is around 820 but I still make time for one every now and again

Ordered straight off the menu--no special orders
Burger king turkey burger = 530 calories
BK single stacker = 370 calories
BK Bacon Burger = 320 calories
BK Fries = 410 calories

Jalapeno Turkey Burger = 490 calories
Teriyaki Turkey Burger= 470 calories

I commend you for going with the turkey burger and cooking it at home. No doubt, the calories were lower than going out to eat. *applause*0

I, too, had to have a burger and fries. And today, I just decided to do it. So a Classic Smashburger with Sweet Potato Smash Fries it is. But props to you for making at home!!0

Well, the good thing is it cost me about 9 dollars total....And there's still 6 turkey burgers and more fries in the freezer now....but that may not be a good thing (I like burgers).0 -
Nothing wrong with that. I have burgers a few times a month. Sometimes out, but mostly at home. I make good cheeseburgers.0

Made it at home with swiss cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and a french baguette. It was delicious!
It came out to 475 calories, 97 of which came from the avocado.0 -

I logged it, I'm actually not over because of it, had I gotten what I really wanted.....I would have been over by a couple hundred...
It got the job done, wasn't "as" good as a restuarant burger/fries..but it was actually a bit more food.0 -

We have turkey burgers and crinkle fries or tater tots as regulars on our dinner menu. Using the point system I always stay within my points, hope that won't change now that I'm tracking calories.0

If you want a burger, then have a burger. No reason to deprive yourself if it fits your caloric and macro goals.0

Two fried jalapenos from On the Border can't be that bad right? Oh how wrong I was when I found out they were 320 calories a piece! :sick:0 -
Nothing wrong with a treat now and then. I do it too. Just be careful what you consume, get the best off the menue calorie wise and then the next day, get back on your daily routine. :flowerforyou:0

I grill burgers and make my homemade fries once per week. There is nothing inherently evil about burgers and fries. Beef is a natural whole food and so are potatoes. I roast my taters in the oven with some olive oil and lightly salted until crispy like fries and grill my burger medium. Nothing wrong with either.
PS...I also top mine with bacon and a little cheddar...notin' wrong wit' dat!0 -

I just go to the store, buy lean ground beef, and make my own. A turkey burger would never do when I am craving a burger. It is just not the same. Usually I will bake my own fries and sometimes I have Cascadian Farms' fries if I am feeling lazy. Been craving one again...0

I never deny myself a craving! I don't care what it is! :-) You can always burn a few more calories or move calories around for that day! I have found that if I deny myself something I am truly craving I will give up. This time I have had the most success of any "diet" aka lifestyle change I have tried....no gimmicks, no pills, no programs...only exercise and a calorie deficit.
******* Another tip is that usually a craving is just that and can be satisfied by even just a few bites. Find a nice restaurant that has burgers and get that and some fries and veggies....divide it all in half and spread it over two meals :-)
******* Sometimes I take off the top of the bun and eat it :-) The bun is what has all the unnecessary calories in it :-(

When you have a craving - what is a man supposed to do??! You did the right thing. Tomorrow is a new day. When I have burgers, I have them bun less. so, I get Romanie Lettuice, tomatoes and onions and wrap around the burger. Tastes delish!0

Me too! I dreamed about a "greasy spoon" burger and fries last night and just had some for dinner...a greasy double cheeseburger, loaded with mayo, mustard, ketsup, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions + some thick greasy fries and a big ole glass of ice water to wash it down. I usually eat a Gardein Ultimate beefless burger with the works, but wanted a real beef greasy fattening burger today and had it--hmmmph!
What I did was plan for it though, this morning--I'm not letting my craving control me, I'll have my greasy burger, but make my fat and flab CRY first and then afterwards--period.
I walked for an hour and 45 minutes (4 miles or so) then I rode my bike for about 30 minutes immediately after I got done walking. This evening, I'll bowl 5 or 6 games (2+ hours of bowling) and the way I bowl....it's a serious fat crying session, because I really move and bowl like I'm in the movies or something :laugh: Super animated and cartoonish :blushing: it's FUN! So I'll be burning to a crisp over 1,000 cals today, so it's all good as they say.0 -
when I want a burger I will usually make one using extra lean beef, but really dieting is not all about denial, all that does is create cravings...eating sensibly is the main focus of this journey, and sometimes we will have what we want calories be damned. For example I make sure to fit in chocolate I like into my diet ( milky ways, reeses)...I eat the small portions ( fun size) so that it keeps my cravings at bay0

Been there (and lately a burger craving!) - Fries I fix - I get shoestring ones...they are the lowest cal ones in my grocery store. And yes..I stood there and checked every darn bag LOL0 -

I did the exact same thing when I went to the store. While at the freezer, for the first time ever, someone asked me if I needed help finding what I was looking for.
