  • You can also make your own tahini. I toast the sesame seeds and then grind them up in the food processor with a little bit of olive oil.

I love it made with lots of garlic and cumin, and I use snap pea pods for dippers. Yummy.

This recipe is so good... except I melt 1 tablespoon of light butter and mix it in as well but OMG it makes the best broccoli ever!

Make your basic hummus (plenty of basic recipes posted here already) then once youhave it the way you like it, then add 3-4 (or 5 or 6) tbls of fresh basil pesto and process for a few seconds more. This is the best! But I love basil pesto.

I don't make my own yet...not enough members of my family like it. I like the red pepper kind the best from the deli.

I like to wrap it in a soft shell Xtreme Health Wheat tortilla, roll it, and microwave for 15 seconds. YUMMY! I also like it in celery (like you would do PB).

On most threads it stands for Bring Up My Post which would cause it to be brought to the front page because there is a new post, but on MFP, most people use it as a way to "bookmark" a certain thread in the "My Topics" section.

Made a "pizza" for my husband tonight - grilled a wheat pita, spread it with hummus (a spicy 3 pepper), then topped with warm roasted chicken (roughly chopped). Loved it!

2 whole red bell peppers (substitute about 3/4 cup chopped jarred roasted red peppers)
One 15-ounce can (425 grams) chickpeas, also called garbanzo beans
1/4 cup (59 ml) fresh lemon juice, about 1 large lemon
    1/4 cup (59 ml) tahini
Half of a large garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for serving
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
    Pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 to 1 teaspoon kosher salt, depending on taste

This is the website I got it from. http://www.inspiredtaste.net

I have made this and it beats store bought hummus!!

I am able to find it at most of my local grocery store, try the health food section. It can also be called sesame seed paste.

I recently made a Pea Hummus. I wanted to see if I could cut down on calories and fat.

So I used blanched peas 32 oz bag, 10 cloves of garlic ( love the stuff), fresh parsley and cilantro, juice from a lime, salt and pep to taste, and since tahini is what puts the fat in hummus I used a 5.3 oz container of nonfat Greek yogurt. Whized it up in the food processor...Delish!!

also this sounds weird but try a grilled cheese with hummus in it, the cheese and hummus melt in together and it makes an amazing sandwich

    Brilliant!

Was wondering if a bit of sesame oil might be a suitable substitute for the tahini?
