How to start?

Hello everyone
So I am pretty new here ... actually pretty new to the gym as well :P
Now I am a 21 years old Male who weighs around 216 lbs (98.1 kg :O), I was wondering what should I do at the gym?. I mean ofcourse every day I go there and start with cycling to burn a goal of 250 Cals (will probably extend it once I am more flexible). But I also do machines (to be honest I am still not 100% sure which machines to work on, but I have an online schedule which I follow) and a daily Abs machine to get rid of that fat on the belly +_+
The thing with Machines is that I can't really tell how much I burned.. so how is this going to work? :P
Any suggestion would be great and of course helpful
Thank you guys and looking forward for the answers

First of:
You can't use a machine or a particular exercise to burn fat in a specific area. It doesn't work like that. When you burn fat, you burn fat all over your body. Particular exercises help muscle growth.
Really, it all depends on what YOU want out of going to the gym whether it be get fitter so you can run longer distances or build some muscle. Drop me a F/R and send me a mail of what you want I'll give you as much advice as I can.0 -
Thanks for the reply
I would like to lose weight and build some muscles (get six pack abs along with some decent/good overall body muscles)
I am not sure if that answers your question though :P
Sorry about that its just that I recently started and I myself still not sure what I really want, other than knowing that I need to lose weight before it gets out of hand.
For the records I started watching my food closely and reduced overall calories consumption (will follow MFP guideline with the food as well)0 -
Watching what you eat is more important than lifting weights if you're going after a six pack.
Plus it's important to get into a comfortable lifestyle of healthy eating (never think of it as a diet - it has to be something you'd be comfortable eating every day, otherwise it's not going to last long). You have to get used to eating only what your GDA allows you to, EVERY day!. If you lose confidence at some point - which happens to everyone eventually - and you stop going to the gym for a while, it's good to know that your eating habits aren't going to be a problem.
And final food tip - eat back your exercise calories that you burn off from cardio.
Okay, final final tip - CARDIOCARDIOCARDIO.0 -
Basically, what people said - no spot fat burn training, unfortunately - your body decides where to cut it. But the only way to lose fat is the healthy eating ( don't torture yourself with the idea of a diet ) and hitting the gym - weight lifting is quite important. Do the workouts grouped on muscles ( legs day, upper body day, etc ) and allow 48 hours between workouts for your muscles to relax and gain strenght. Pump your proteins and make the calucations carefully. I would recomend you to read this article as well:
