What are your favorite toppings for salad?

I have two that I love!

One is the classic Greek salad - romaine, tomatoes, onions, kalamata olives, feta cheese and greek salad dressings.

The second is an apple walnut chicken - salad mix, grilled chicken, walnutes (or pecans), sliced apples, cranberries and blue cheese.

Looking for more salad ideas!

    Cucumbers - diced
    Regular mixed lettuce
    kalamata olives
    grape tomatoes
    mini mozzerella pearles (balls)
    and lite balsamic vinigrette dressing.

    Simple and delicious.

    I love salads!

I use homemade dressings such as creme fraiche or greek yogurt, mixed with herbs like basil, mint, oregano, etc. I like balsamic dressing too.

...then add things like parsley, sunflower seeds, raspberries, apple slices, sesame seeds, boiled eggs, tangerine pieces, dried mango.

Last but not least, CHEESE! I like crumbled feta or goats cheese.

Edit: Also, I think the leaves are a huge part of making a salad great. Iceberg lettuce is tasteless! I love rocket or herb salad.

I love so many different salads... right now I'm adoring chickpeas, cucumber, tomato, sunflower seed, and onion atop of arugula with honey mustard.

I recently bought a dressing mixer "thingy" from OXO does anyone make their own dressings?

Olives, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, almonds, avocado, crab, grilled chicken. (Not all mixed together at once, just a variation of those)

For dressings I like a thin ranch, italian, vinegar, honey mustard, lemon juice.

Forgot to add what I do like. Radishes, baby bell peppers, Cucumbers, carrots. I dont like a lot of dressing on a salad, so I put my salad in a zip lock bag and add a bit of dressing then shake the bag up so everything gets just a bit of dressing on it. Then I put it on my plate. It sounds strange, but it works for me...:ohwell:

i just bought something weird for my salad - at least it seemed kinda weird! it was a bag of broccoli slaw. i guess you are supposed to add stuff to it to make cole slaw. but instead, i topped my salad with it! it was pretty delish and i think it satisfied the need for some extra crunch.

i love me some carrots and chic peas and hard boiled eggs and broccoli (non-slaw lol) and lots of lettuce and corn and black beans and cucumbers and avocados and red onions and cheese....*drool*

I love, delicate baby spinach as my salad base topped with chopped onions, avocado, pear & poppy seed dressing, yum yum.

Another is chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives and kind, red, yellow or green peppers, tossed with greek dressing & feta cheese. NO GREENS, Just chunky salad…voila`

Another is Costcos Sweet Kale Salad

And yet another twist, make your favourite salad and at the end toss with coleslaw, it reminds me of that applebee's salad minus the tons of fat!!

    Cheers:drinker:

I love chicken taco salad! Lots of lettuce with some chicken, corn, black beans, tortilla strips and sometimes a little shredded cheese. I mix salsa with fat free ranch for the dressing. So good! I also really like spinach with pears/ apples/ strawberries/ blueberries with chicken, crumbled blue cheese, walnuts/ pecans, and a strawberry balsamic vinaigrette.

    Stacy's Pita Chips
    Lowfat cottage cheese

I love broccoli slaw! Rather than using it as a garnish, I'll use it as my entire salad base, with just Kalamata olives and some light dressing.
