I love white potatoes. But as we all know, they aren't exactly healthy for us to have very often. So below, I have a few links to change up those white potato recipes with something a little better for that waistline(:

I believe that it is not the potato that is bad but what you put on it. As with everything else, moderation is the key. I love my potato . . . just don't eat them everyday and not so much :blushing:

White potatoes aren't bad for you. All natural, non-processed carbohydrate source. A good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Copper, Potassium, Manganese, and dietary fiber. Just like white rice is fine for you, it just has lower fiber than brown and a few lower nutrients (which aren't bioreadily available anyway).

I still have potatoes with my dinners a few times a week to use up calories and because I LOVE 'EM! Everything in moderation.....

But I do like sweet potatoes and Caulimash as well. Apple crisps are YUMMY as well. I have given up potato chips pretty much for life though... not because of the potatoes but all the other garbage they put in them to make them so good.

Potatoes are awesome and a 150 calorie portion is actually a fair amount of food!

I think the OP was trying to be helpful - if you don't fancy using the recipes then don't use them!

Thank you OP for your ideas!

We were just trying to point out there is no need to make white potatoes out to be evil. They aren't. Not everything is an attack, just sharing information like the OP did.

potatoes are a stellar source of potassium.
if you are concerned about calories, just avoid potatoes that have been prepared with a ton of oil.

a baked potato is an excellent vehicle for toppings of your choice; this could range from chili and bacon to broccoli and salsa, depending on your nutritional goals.

    nom.

OP was saying that white potatoes are unhealthy and implied that eating them would cause problems for one's waist line. Good intentions or not, it's not true so people spoke up about it so that others reading it wouldn't take this to be true.

The potato as a food isn't bad for you. Potatoes are loaded with great vitamins and minerals. It's the way it is prepared that is bad. The same can be said for most foods really. However, those are great recipes! So thank you for sharing the recipes.
