Averaging 1600 and losing. It makes me wonder just how much I was eating before I started tracking, lol. I am shooting for 1200 though. *sigh*

I'm losing. 5'3-1/2" and currently 185 lbs. I eat between 950-1100 calories a day and don't eat back my exercise calories. HOWEVER - this is being done under the guidance and supervision of both my doctor and a dietician. I have to see the doctor every three months and the dietician every 4 weeks. The low calorie count is due to some medical issues.

I'm 5' 10" and 54. I average 1500-1800 right now. Once I lose about 5 more pounds I will switch to losing half a pound a week and more calories. I lift heavy and do a little bit of cardio.

    I'm 5'4. I started at 95kg (209lb). I'm still 5'4 (haha), but now my weight is 89.5kg (197lb) after six weeks.

I set my lifestyle to sedentary as I have a desk job, and a 1lb/week weightloss goal. My daily calorie goal is 1500, and I eat back most of my exercise calories (some days I get 600 exercise cals). My net calories are usually under my goal, but no more than 200 unless I'm sick.

So in reality I have lost 2lb/week rather than the 1lb. Behind the weightloss though is a decrease in the amount I eat coupled with a huge increase in exercise (from next-to-none to working out 6 days a week and going walking nearly every day).

Thanks for sharing Brittney! The heavier you are the more calories you can eat & still lose weight, right?

For example, someone who is let's say 140 and wants to get to 120 pounds might need to stick to around 1200 calories per day but another girl that is currently 180 and wants to get to 120 could probably eat around 1500 cals and still keep losing for quite awhile, right?

Not necessarily. I'm 128 lbs, and still losing while averaging about 2150/day.

1400...some days more some days less. I am currently still trying to lose but it has slowed down a lot. I run 30+ minutes 3-4 days a week plus lifting/strength training.

    I'm losing on 2500+ calories a day.

BUT, I have a physically active job, and I burn a lot of calories 6 days a week at the gym.

Averaged since January, but still pretty close:

    TDEE: 2513 per day
    Intake: 1941 calories per day
    Deficit: 572
    Average weekly loss: 0.5kg (1.1lb)

    Starting weight: 77.2kg
New low weight this week: 68.4kg (Up slightly today due to bloating.)

My weight loss is slowing slightly at the moment due to personal circumstances but still pretty steady.

Bob Harper (the trainer guy from Biggest Loser) was on Dr. Oz last week. He said a quick tool to calculate how many calories you should eat everyday, based on what your body needs function normally - breathe, heart beating, digestion, brain function - is to multiply your weight in POUNDS by 12. If you eat more, you will gain weight. If you eat less, you will lose weight. This does NOT factor in exercise. I eat about 1,200 - 1,400 calories a day, sometimes more and exercise about 3-4 times a week for 30-50 minutes. You will burn more calories if you build up some muscle. Best wishes on your weight loss and fitness journey!
