    I had the same problem! I think I was doing squats improperly though. Still happens sometimes but I used to have a lot of problems with my knees, even when I wasn't exercising. I actually think squats and lunges have made them stronger because they feel a lot better. I also have the hip popping problem (aka snapping hip syndrome) which is very uncomfortable when doing lying leg lifts etc. but doing yoga such as pigeon pose reallllyyy helps!!
