I USED to not worry about sugar from natural sources. But I lost 30lbs successfully, the last 20 here on MFP. I had stayed at that weight for over 2 months, worked out harder and still no loss. I started reading up about insulin resistance and decided to start keeping my sugar below 30g a day or close to it. In the first two days I lost 1.6 lbs! finally! I can tell you though that the sugar withdraw is horrible! sweating and craving! I have never been addicted to anything, not cigarettes or alcohol etc so I never had really tried to quit anything. This has been very very hard for me.

Do you best if you are still losing weight while going over (like I did at first too) but consider it if you plateau for more than a month.

Cheers guys... Sugar hidden and fruit stays where it is!! Will start eating more berries instead of other fruits... altho I have found a new love for mango!

Just like to say also... only my first post on here and first time reading others... just like to say that there seems to be a really supportive bunch on here and i salute everyone for any weight they have lost / gained etc

    Thanks again

    Stu

Have you ever heard the expression "eat the rainbow"? (no not Skittles). Keep that good variety in your diet. Each fruit has different health benefits, antioxidants, and vitamins. If you said "I really need to stop eating a bag of Doritos every single day" I would agree. But cutting down the variety of fruits that you eat? Cutting out things like mangoes? No way. Keep eating a variety of fruit and veggies and enjoy the fruits of the season and the local harvest if you can. :) Frozen fruit is also great to keep on hand.

I say eat as much fruit as you want as long as your fitting it into your carb macros

    ^ That right there.

    Yup.

Theres tons of different opinions on sugar from fruit. IMO fructose is just as important to your body as other "healthy" nutrients. I say eat as much fruit as you want as long as your fitting it into your carb macros

Wow, just wow. Fructose is by far the worst sugar you can consume. The stuff forms AGE's in your arteries which are basically strands that clog them up. When someone of good health dies from something like a heart attack when they get older this is typically the reason. All sugars create them, but fructose is the worst at it. To put fructose anywhere near healthy is just plain foolish.

Somebody is grumpy. Saying fructose from fruit causes heart attacks is probably the funniest thing I'll hear all day. As someone who does heart research, I can say that eating fruit should be the least of your concerns when it comes to a heart attack.

I think it'll make the top 5 for sure, but there have been some pretty good ones today. =)

Unless you are diabetic, don't worry about sugars in foods that are also providing vitamins, fiber, protein, etc. I go over on my sugar every day, but it hasn't hampered my progress.

    Agreed

the extra ketchup on the burger is therefore nothing to worry about.

I don't worry about sugar so long as it comes with the fiber that it was born with.

Take the fiber away and you have officially turned it into an empty calorie.
