Donkey Calf raise ?

Ok so I need some help. My new workout program has "donkey calf raises" as an exercise. A donkey in a gym? I find this ludacris. I was asking a guy at the gym about it. I was just trying to be funny and inquire about it but he said the donkey was at the vets and would be back next week. Am I nuts or are there really donkey at gyms to do these donkey calf raises?

You must go to a premier gym. I haven't been to a good gym for a while and had to resort to cat calf raises. Not as good at all.

Yes, it's true. Donkeys provide a lot of resistance, so the work out if seriously intense!

I just googled it...it's just a type of calf raise and there are you tube videos...didn't look at then but I'm assuming it's weighted calf raises with the machine...our bent over which was how the pictures looked?

Erm, how's that rock you've been living under. I seriously thought EVERYONE had a donkey at their gym. Hell, mine has a couple miniature ponies.

    Get with the program, lady.

Yes. These gyms usually offer Donkey Basketball programs as well. Just be sure to wear old shoes.

  • I am confused. What does that have to do with a donkey?

But where does the donkey go? On top of the girl or the guy?

So there is no donkey? Are you sure? Because they guy at my gym seemed dead serious. I didn't want to laugh at him or quesiton him since I am new to working out.

Both. At the same time. Otherwise, it's just not as effective.

The donkey is usually located on the the left side of the gym, the elephant is usually on the right side.

This should probably go in the Fitness and Exercise section, you'd most likely get much better answers.

Pretty sure there is no live donkey involved, but if there is, I'd like to join your gym.
  • Fitness and exercise. Oh gosh I didn't even realize I posted in here. I am sure there are going to be a bunch of people just leaving snarky remarks now. Sheeseh. I will post in the other thread. My bad.

I think this is related to the whole Hunter Gatherers v Westerners thing, farmers have donkeys and farmers work the land so they're thinner ergo having a donkey makes you thinner. I'm not sure whether you need to also wear dungarees but I'd say it's advisable.

*kitten*? Those are the same as donkeys right? There is a planet fitness a few blocks away but I would have to change gyms.

We have a donkey at our gym. He does NOT enjoy us trying to make him do calf raises.. it's quite the work out.. and he kicks. You do NOT want to be on the receiving in of one of his kicks!

Dungarees? Is that a type of workout gear?

My gym keeps the donkeys near the dumbbells. Are you positive you didn't see them there? Maybe somebody forgot to rack them.

I think it's a strap to hold the donkey on your back.
