I'm not judging but...why do people get them?
mine represent different parts of my life. A Peruvian/Incan cross to represent a very enlightening travel experience, A compass rose on my foot to guide my travels, the last few lines of Robert Frost A road less traveled on my other foot to represent the paths I took to get where I am today, A celtic designed tree on my back to represent my strong roots.
Some folks do it to show off art, some do it for personal reasons, memorials, achievements, benchmarks. Others do it because they can. Some people have no idea why.
I believe tattoos should be representative. Also, I do alot of research prior to figuring out my design. For instance, I see many folks with lotus tattoos, but they have no idea that the incorrect placement of that symbol on their body can be quite disrespectful.
I do alot of research on the artist before I get mine, also, I prepare to fork out loads of dough for a GOOD artist. Mine represent importance in my life, I expect the artwork to justify the importance.0 -
This is my cat's paw print. It's my first and only tattoo so far, and I'm loving it. You have to understand the relationship between him and me... he is 18 years old, which means he's older than me and he's been with me all my life. I grew up with him, I am STILL growing up with him, and he was there during the worst times and the happy ones as well.
During all the horrible binging nights, he was right there beside me on the kitchen floor. When I started eating healthy and started cooking more often, he was always right beside me in the kitchen (probably because he wanted food, but still... he was there).
I love him to pieces, he means way more to me than just a pet. My mom got the same tattoo, so we're all gonna be united forever, even if we might lose each other one day.
btw, sorry if the pic is a bit blurred, I just took a progress picture and zoomed in0 -

Show off what ya got! This is my only one, and my first, figured I'd just get something big. The style is Samoan, I have no relation but I really like the symmetry and complexity in the designs.
I'm considering extending it down to a 3/4 sleeve, it would all be my own design in the same style. What do y'all think?
<I can't show off mine... :devil:0 -

I think I am addicted to tattoos. I currently have 3. A small heart over my own from the day i got married , a grizzly bear on my left arm and a Japanese dragon 3/4 sleeve(in progress). I plan on getting at least 3 more. The main thing i consider is the meaning it has to me before i get it. I don't want to be covered with meaningless tattoos.0

So disappointed. I was supposed to get a new one this weekend and our friend that does them was out of town. :frown: Hopefully sometime this week or in the next two weeks at least. :happy:0

I have three One on the inside of my left foot, one on my left wrist and one on the top of my right foot. All have different and special meanings- so if you would like to know, feel free to ask me. And no- they are not obvious as to what they are. lol
Sorry the top ones really big- I don't know how to resize the photo... you can right click to see the rest of it.0 -
I love tatoos!! You can see a couple of mine in my profile pictures. I have several and am planning my next one right now. They are a wonderful form of self expression and extremely sexy if their done right!0

@ColaWoman --- I have one on my inner wrist which is supposedly a very painful area to get one and it didn't hurt hardly at all. It just felt like a little burning/scraping kind of feel. Everyone should at least get one tattoo- no matter how big or small!
Maybe one day...who knows!!! LOL! lol! Years ago I never thought I would be fat - but here I am, trying to lose 100 pounds!0 -
no upclose detailed ones but heres the best photos i have!

Let's see if I can upload the pictures correctly. These pictures were both taken before I started my weight loss, so that's why my arm and back looks chuncky.

Well...it looks like no matter what I do the image just won't show up on the thread. Idk.0 -

@Shier you need to put [i m g] at the front of each link (before http://) and then [ / i m g] at the end (after .jpg) on each link
WITHOUT THE SPACES IN BETWEEN LETTERS ON THE IMG BITS0 -
I tried that on a different post too and it didn't work there either. Maybe there's something wrong with the pics.0

the IMG has to be in lower case like this: img not: IMG
Hope this helps0 -

I got my started on the extension for my sleeve (profile pic). Had the linework for the forearm and tricep done last night. Next appointment I'm hoping to have the linework for the bicep and shading for the linework done :-D
For the most recent addition I designed and created the stencil myself.
