How much do people use cash anymore?

what is this "cash" of which you speak? is that something that happens in between direct deposit and little plastic card?
haha, this! It's pretty true, for me.0 -
in the small country town we live in, cash is king! old ppl don not rely on cards and our credit card machine breaks a lot up at my job so cash is always nice to have. i spend more when i have cash it seems but i like to count, play with it and then count my cash again lol. true story!! also, best in arcades!!!0

I pay cash for everything except bills. I still write checks for the mortgage and utilities.
I used to use credit but got in way too deep when I was younger. Once I payed off the debt, I started using cash and have not been in debt since with the exception of the mortgage.
You can never get in trouble if you pay yourself first. Once the bills are paid, the cash in your pocket is all that's left until payday.0 -
I only use my account for cashing my check and paying a couple bills - cash all the way! I also took off the automatic overdraft so that if my card is ever stolen, the thieves won't get anything except maybe $40 at the most. On the rare occasion I want to purchase something online I put the amount of cash needed in the account then buy whatever it is.
As far as I know only the local gas stations charge an extra fee for using a card transaction. I just know that paying with a credit card costs the companies I shop at so I'd rather pay cash and do my part in keeping the cost of business down so that the cost of services doesn't go up.
I don't really care about anyone tracking my spending. Cash is free to use at all times and doesn't require paying it back with interest so I stick with it.0 -
same here. the only time i carry cash is on tip day until its spent, and when i go to vegas or a strip club, or both. LOL0

Anytime I see someone hold up the check out line to write a check, it's like watching an Amish family go by in a horse-drawn carriage.
the grocery store i worked in.. the person just had to sign the check.. no more holding up a line!
i have 2 debit cards, my mom doesn't even have one! she uses cash still.
i use debit cards for everything except fast food and when food gets delivered.
i've learned to keep cash on hand for kids.. never know when something will popup and they need it for school.0 -
as more and more banks start charging for debit purchases, everyone will start carrying more cash0
-
also, when i only have cash i tend to spend less.
i never think of my balance when i use debit.. then i check online and i'm like holy shi i spent a lot today!0 -
ICE 20$ and its been in my wallet probably a year0
-
I only use cash. My credit sucks so no checks or debit.0

your both crazy. Ever heard of Dave Ramsey? Cash only here for the past 4 years. it makes life eazy with an evelope system. If you don't have the cash you can't buy it. We have paid off over 100k in debt since going cash only. Yes, 100K.
Cash registers a pain when you use it. Keep using those credit cards and THEY will come back to haunt you! 87% of people do not pay off they credit cards fully at the end of the month. 78% don't ever use the "rewards" they are "earned" by going into debt.
Cash is on the rebound in a big way. I see more and more people using CASH ONLY. I believe its a good thing.0 -
I wait tables so most all I use is cash lol.0

Cash is for the babysitter because no teenager wants to be paid in a check. Other than that it's always be good old debit card, which reminds me I need to order a new one because mine is worn out!0

I use my debit card a lot, but that's because my check is put in electronically.
I work at a grocery store as a cashier and the checks are pretty regular things there, usually. It goes in certain days, though. Some days I will have maybe 5 or 6 checks come in and the rest cash or cards, other days I get almost all checks and no cash or cards. It is kind of strange how it goes in waves.0 -
I keep a little bit on me for emergencies. You never know when the cards will fail you.
The only other time I carried a larger sum was when we had a hurricane barreling down toward our area. It's pretty common to have the electronics go offline for a while so it's better to have cash in those situations.0 -
I use both.
I don't really like carrying around a lot of cash, but a lot of the times I'll get my cheque in cash so I actually know what I have since I am horrible with over spending when it's on a debit card.0 -
I only use cash if I have to. Touching coins kindof grosses me out... they always make your hands smell metallic, and who knows where they've been. :sick:0

I wait tables so most all I use is cash lol.
Same here I'm a waitress so I use Cash 90% of the time.0
