I'd be very interested in what Dan himself has to say about his OP now, with nearly another year of research and experience under his belt.

Great post - very insightful - especially the carb cycle . Carbs are the concern for me - will try to keep them limited in AM time.
    Thanks

Thanks so much, Dan. I found a lot of interesting (and useful) information. I am wondering what a Carb cycle is.

Carb cycle is bringing your body close to KETOSIS.
Some ppl thrive in this state but most fall flat due to feeling tired.
    How it works:
For 3 days you drop your carbs close to 100g.
Carbs are a huge source of fat for most ppl especially if they dont understand GI and insulin levels.
The key to great health and energy is insulin and keeping it at an even level throughout the day.
So for 3 days you only eat 100g of carbs.
Youll use lots of filler calories like carrots and broccoli and stuff but fruit is almost extinct.
then on day 4 you refeed the carbs up to 300g.
This replenishes what your brain needs before it drops into KETO mode.
Most pro body builders carb cycle before a show because its one of the only ways to get the paper thin skin to show off contours on their muscular frame.
Google Obi Bodybuilder if you want to see what I mean.
    hugs!

ketosis is quite healthy when done correctly. why not stay in it?

carb flu makes people tired, ketosis doesn't.

I tried OEP and it hasn't done anything.

I got better results on Capsiplex when I first started diet and lost loads initially but the next lot seemed to cause severe heartburn, my throat and stomach felt like it was on fire within a few minutes of taking it and made me feel really sick. I wasn't sure if they had changed the formula or what but I haven't been able to take that one again since.

I try not to eat after 4pm either until next morning. I'd been taking OEP first thing then taking my dog out and just having a slim fast for breakfast when got back and then one for lunch. I ate main meal around 3pm (portion of meat or fish with salad or veg) and don\t eat after 4pm but I'm still stuck.

Tried adding more carbs some days but use gluten free bread/pasta and cauliflower instead of rice or cous cous. Tried been mainly vegetarian too as some people said they lost more weight when they went vegetarian but been stuck for 2 months.

This is a very old post.
I've learned quite a bit since November of last year.
I still stand string on my view that unless you have food allergies toward certain carbs don't cut them.
I eat close to 250g a day and still lose fat.
I also feel that until you detox some people may need to cut certain carbs but not all.
Let's try to keep dieting simple!

Thank you, again, for helping Dan. I started IF (leangains) last week and it's been a fantastic stall buster.
