50 shades is BORING

The writing may be cr@p, but the Marketing is pure genius.0

The author is doing a book tour starting in my city (where the book is based).
An article in the newspaper stated that the book was originally intended for Twilight fans...now I *really* have no desire to read it!
It wasn't intended for Twilight fans it was straight up Twilight fanfiction posted for free on the internet for all to read. I've heard from people who have seen both texts the author just used the find/replace feature to change the names. So if a story of a inexplicably damaged man who could never love (Edward/Christian) falling for a ditzy, spineless, devoid of personality shell of a girl (Bella/Ana) isn't your cup of tea you won't enjoy it.
Plus it's more poorly written that Twilight and that's saying something. I have to admit I've pitied the people who tell me the sex is "sooooo hot" it tells me a lot about their sex lives.
so all those mommies reading their 'mommy porn' are really just bored, sheltered housewives?
Didn't say that. Just said if they think the sex scenes are amazing like nothing they've ever heard it tells me a lot about what they've experienced.0 -
I wish I could turn my fanfictions into books and make tons of money, too....0

THANK YOU!!! I thought it was absolute dog sh1te!!! I skipped over the sex cos it was repetitive and boring amd Christian grey is a prick! He's bossy, rude, has serious baggage and mental problems! Don't care if he's a gazillionaire! He's a ****!0

i'm glad i'm not the only person in the world that didn't care for it. i don't normally read romance, but plodding through this drudge was just too much. that and the ****ty writing. this review was the best part of the book.0 -
As a full time working mom whose husband is away lot, I like to spend my time reading books that either I can learn from or are very entertaining. And 50 shades was none of that. I went back to reading " Secrets of toddler's life"0

You mean...women think about sex too??? O.o0

Pulling out my tampon will not turn me on......0
-
No kidding, books 2 and 3 were so bad that I had to force myself to keep reading b/c I thought it HAD to get better and I wanted to finish. I ended up skipping the 3rd part of the 3rd book just to finally get to the end and BE DONE WITH IT!0
-
I agree! I made it halfway through the second book and then I put it down and started reading something else. I may pick it up again.0
-
lol I agree that it probably says a lot about the sex lives of the people that thought that this book was soooo hot.
Nope.0 -

The book may be boring but my fitness group isn't! https://www.facebook.com/groups/50shadesoffitness LOL, though its not about porn...I'm looking for people of all levels of fitness.0

It was a pleasantly erotic mindless holiday book.
If I wanted quality literature I would read the classics.
That doesn't make me (or anyone else brave enough to say they enjoyed it) stupid or poorly read.
It's harmless fun.
I agree...I enjoyed reading them. Would I read them again? No. Hopefully, I can resell the trilogy on Amazon and use the $$ toward buying yet another box of diapers for my sons.0 -
I liked the first book until they started having sex and then it never stopped and then it was the same sex over and over again and I am still not sure what the plot is. I am on book 2 on like page 120. I haven't picked it up in 3 weeks. I am determined to read them so I can sell em on Craiglist and get my money back. Everytime I pick it up I roll my eyes about every three minutes. It is awful!0

I've read better porn written by fifteen year old virgins on the internet.
Thank you. I knew I had at least one fan out there. :flowerforyou:I wish I could turn my fanfictions into books and make tons of money, too....
QFT.
The difficult part is getting my books/novellas publicized enough that strangers will give me money.0 -
I didn't read it, but from what I understand it's book porn.
Why in the f@#k would I READ porn? There's this lovely thing called the internet.
^^Totally agree!0 -
I have to agree. I flipped through five pages at a time to get through the sex and on to the story line! How are they ever going to make it into a movie? There's already plenty of porno around.0

Isn't it interesting how men like to watch porn and many woman (not all) like to read it? Has anyone here read Secretary? I know the movie but I recently heard it was also a book...loved that movie by the way. James Spader was soooo naughty. Sorry for thred hijacking...lol!0
-
I guess I'm the oddball here but I liked it!0
-
needle play, knife play, fire play, cupping, lashing...these are a few of my favoirte things...and they are way to adventurous for such an atrocity as 50!0
-
If you have read ONE S&M book, you've pretty much read them all.0

Men like to watch porn cause men are visual creatures. Women like hearing things, we like words. I don't like erotic books though, waste of time0 -

Thank you. Even though I never had any intention on reading this, I now know I would've hated it anyway. Yay.0 -
Okay so I might get the Sh** kicked out of me in here. But I enjoyed the books.. I couldn't put them down and to me they were hot. No there is nothing wrong with my sex life AT ALL!!!!!! But I never was "interested" in half the crap that are in the book... I did feel it got too repetitive though and since found a new genre of books I enjoy.
Oh and I liked Twilight before it was all the rage.0
