Now that we all know 50 shades is boring, I'll take some good erotic novel recommendations!0
-
Read it hoping for some good writing and the BDSM, barely got a couple chapters in then had to put it down due to awful writing and lame vanilla sex. book recommendations always welcome.0
-
I actually loved the series. Sad to see it end =/0

Read some of Zane's stuff....
I read Zane's Sex Chronicles when I was in College....It was pretty good...She writes from POV of vairous characters.....0 -
Okay so I might get the Sh** kicked out of me in here. But I enjoyed the books.. I couldn't put them down and to me they were hot. No there is nothing wrong with my sex life AT ALL!!!!!! But I never was "interested" in half the crap that are in the book... I did feel it got too repetitive though and since found a new genre of books I enjoy.
Oh and I liked Twilight before it was all the rage.
I just read the first book, and I enjoyed it. It was a fun read. At some level, I could relate to her character (the wanting more out of a hopeless relationship). I will read the other 2 books.
And I read all the twilight books. Before it was cool to read them. LOL0 -

"The best thing about 50 Shades of Grey is this review"
Was actually just going to post this - sums up exactly what I thought:bigsmile:0 -
Yes, it is. BORING.
I barely got through the second book and couldn't justify wasting my time on the third.
However, I do have friends that loved it and think it's extremely risqué and kinky.
My response to them - if you think THAT'S kinky, you really, really need to spice up your sex life. I've read better porn (with better writing) on the internet....
With that said, we can knock the series and the author all we want... But I bet she's is laughing all the way to the bank.0 -
****ty writing, stupid story, and not BDSM. That **** is straight vanilla.
This0 -
There was more than one page to that book?0
-
The sex part was not all that because they did not have the real dom parts in it just what he tried with a newby virgin who was not willing to do much? I am shocked at the negative comments. I agee it dragged on but just because i liked it that makes me bored, or have a bad sex life, or uneducated? Wow that is quite a presumptuous observation and judgment on the readers. Sure it was not greatly written but its not Socrates its a love story.0

My friend LOVED the book so I read it....and I don't understand the hype. Boring, awful writing, yawn. I was getting annoyed at the "inner goddess" references and the repetition. I didn't find it hot at all. I agree with Bethanny Frankel on The Ellen Show who said that book was for frustrated housewives who think they're being naughty.0
-
I guess I'm the oddball here but I liked it!
I did too0 -
Who else find it boring?
I think its a very slow book, the story is not that bad, but I thinks the sex is boring. I cant stand reading 5 pages of boring sex at a time. She makes Mr. Grey like he is this kinky man, come on, thats vanilla
not to mention the plot was done 30 years ago and named "9 1/2 Weeks".0 -

I read it just to see what all the fuss was about. I ended up skim reading it because I found it quite boring and mindless.
It annoyed me how she was always saying "jeez" and other irritating things throughout the book too. I won't be reading the next 2 in the series that's for sure!
I'm sure the author is happy though - they would have made a killing off this!0 -
Story of O (Pauline Reage even with the publicized alternate ending, it's more real)
Beauty Trilogy by A.N Roquelaure
anything by Nancy Friday
I second the recommendation for the Beauty Trilogy! And the Story of O!
I did enjoy 50 Shades. Mindless summer reading. Wouldn't call them "boring" though.0 -
I take 50 Shades for what it was, mind candy and just pure entertainment. If I wanted to stimulate my mind I would look at my old college English book list.0
-
I REFUSE to read those books! ughhh.0

Sorry, I've read better. I'll take any of Megan Hart's book than 50 shades. The writing's better, the sex scenes are better...it's just better.0 -
I haven't read it after hearing how bad the writing is. If I want to read fanfiction, I'll read GOOD fanfiction online... like I've been doing since I was 13
If you're looking for kinky, fanfiction.net is probably your best friend...0 -
okay it had a great story line book one was harder to get through but 2 and 3 are awesome, kinda like reading twighlint but sex instead of vampires ... If i want porn have no problem getting it so its not shy about porn for me I read the 3 books in 5 days0

I knew what this would be before I even went to the link. The first time I saw it I laughed so hard I cried. And maybe peed a little.0 -

^^This. I felt my IQ dropping with each page I read. A little spanking? Bor-ing!!! Teach me something I can use! And what 21-year-old says "crap!" and "double crap!" and "oh my!" that often. SO stupid.
Although, it did open up my eyes to REAL erotica--at a friend's suggestion (who has a degree in sexology), I'm currently reading "Fanny Hill", "Venus in Furs", and "Fear of Flying".
Try
Made for Sex by Joan Elizabeth Lloyd.
Trouble, Wicked, Sexy Devil, all by Sasha White.
One Wicked Night by Noelle Mack.
What Happens In Vegas by Jodi Kybb Copeland, Anya Bast, Lauren Dane, & Kit Tunstall.
Tempted by Megan Hart.
Going Down by Vonna Harper.
Thanks! I'll give these ones a try0 -
It was a pleasantly erotic mindless holiday book.
If I wanted quality literature I would read the classics.
That doesn't make me (or anyone else brave enough to say they enjoyed it) stupid or poorly read.
It's harmless fun.0 -
I must be bored now because I am reading posts from the bored about a book they thinkis boring? Anyone else find th irony in this?0
-
This comes from Twilight... No way in hell this could be good. :yawn:0
-
I'd rather have sex than read about it.
And my husband could certainly teach Christian Grey a thing or two.0 -
Don't understand the obsession, read regular romance novels with the sex more interesting than what was in that book! :yawn:0
