Expressions you hate..

Not really an expression but females that say "like" damn near every 4th word out of their mouth.
Makes me want to

Polite gestures bug me.
"Excuse me"...Why, if burping upsets people then screw them. Burp freely I say.
or worse
"Excuse You"...I don't need you to excuse me. Who the hell do you think you are.
"God bless you" or "Gazoontite"
Here's a better sneeze response.
"How dare you sneeze in my presence. My you and your family suffer the death of a thousand horny monkeys."
No according to Seinfeld you say "You are so good looking".
I dislike a lot of the expressions that have been posted but the one that really upsets me and I didn't see posted is "I don't mean to interrupt" . Well you must or you wouldn't!
Also in healhcare the term near miss!0 -
pretty much any corporate jargon makes me want to punch someone in the throat. "push the envelope" "hit it out of the park" "take a stab at it" "dog and pony"
Also, i'm a graphic designer and if someone asks me to "just jazz it up" one more time, i'm going to jazz my foot up their *kitten*.
Oh yes. To keep yourself from gouging your eye out with a pen during management presentations, you can play Buzzword Bingo with your co-workers. Some suggestions for the bingo board:
"...going forward"
"within the organization"
"outside the box"
"from a (marketing/revenue/cost) perspective..."
"...to drive (sales/revenue/etc.)"
"...impact..." (as a verb)
"...leverage..." (as a verb)
"right-size" (euphemism for company death spiral)
"human capital"
"core competency"
"align"
"the culture (of the "organization")"
It's fun. You may get lucky and bingo in one sentence, "Now that we have right-sized the organization, going forward we will leverage our remaining human capital by aligning with each group's core competencies to drive sales and impact revenue. Going forward."
this is an amazing idea. i must try it at my next meeting.0 -
My bad (ugh)
lmao...I use that all the time! I have for years! Opps....my bad :laugh:0 -
I live in western South Dakota - a lot of ranchers out here. Most of them pronounce the word "drought" as "droth". It drives me INSANE, and I want to correct them, but it's so accepted out here, they'd think I was a snooty "eastlander". Someday I'm going to leave this state, stand at the border and scream, "IT'S PRONOUNCED 'DROWT'!!!!" Passive-aggressive, I know, but it will make me feel better.0
-
It's more of a word... "irregardless". My ex said it ALL the time thinking he was so smart and funny. It drove me insane and I hated it. I still hate it when anyone says it!0
-
"nuff said" at the end of a rant like thats the last word and its right. WHATEVER. I've always thought it was dumb. "nuff" isnt even a word and secondly...you can't even say "enough"
Also, I hate "just sayin" NO! You're not "just sayin" because there was a thought process behind why you said what you said. Usually people use it to justify something they've stated. USUALLY WRONG!!!
Last, but not least...this isn't an expression...when people spell DEFINITELY wrong!!! OH MAN I GET SO ANNOYED!!! It's D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y. Not definatly, or definately, defanatly...or defiantly (THAT is whole other word entirely!!). Or use your/you're wrong...or their/there/they're, here/hear...etc0 -
Heard a comedian once joke about the expression "there's more than one way to skin a cat"....he said "how many ways do you need?!"
I've always agreed.
I also hate the "You can't have your cake and eat it too" expression. If you give me cake I'm gonna f***ing eat it. That's why I'm here. If you try to give me cake and tell me I can't eat it I'm going to take a *kitten* on the hood of your car.
You realize it just means that you simply won't continue to have someting, once you consume/use it up, right? Sorry if you knew that already, but I thought you might not, based on what you said about it and you may find it less annoying, if it made more sense to you.
Ha!0 -
The sayings I most hate are staples on MFP forums.
- Sweat is fat crying
- A tiger's earned her stripes
- Eat more to weigh less
- You can't spot reduce
OHHHHH I hate "sweat is fat crying" so much. Or "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." Talk about eating disorder!0 -
When people say "Jelly!" when they're jealous -.-0
-
When people say butthurt. WTH is that? It sounds so crass and unclassy and I can't believe that people over the age of 30 say that (even people in their 20's, but I just chalk that up to an extreme immaturity). It's something a little kid would say. Is that about making fun of people (or kids) that have been anally raped (because that is not a joke)? Is this the new titty baby phrase. I hate that one too (my mom and her friend used to say that all the time), but at least that one does not make me think of horribly traumatic anal rape and torture (it just makes me think of narcissism and people that are cold and distant).0

I was once on a bus in London, sitting in front of two teenage girls, who used the word "like" every three words (I counted).
After about like five minutes I like wanted to like strangle them.0 -
bump0
-
With all due respect, which I hate most when I am using it, because I know I have absolutely no respecdt for that person.
Also, had the displeasure of working for a woman who ended every sentence with "You know, what I mean?"0 -
"Twelve, one half-dozen or the other" and "pot calling the kettle black" both irritate the snot out of me.
It's "six of one, half dozen of the other" but yes, I seriously DESPISE that one!!!!0 -
Anything on facebook concerning someone's dinner and they put "nom nom" after it, irritates the crap out of me... As does when a person writes something really catty on facebook or on here and they put #justsaying after it...
This is MFP or Facebook. NOT twitter....
arrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh0 -

I agree this one drives me insane almost as bad as anyways It's just anyway0 -
"it was meant to happen"
"he/she is in a better place now"
"god has other plans"
"it was god's time for him/her"
"god meant for it to happen"
god this.. god that.. anything relating to god really..
like.. no. just no.0 -

'Thinking outside the box' ...no, lets stay in the box , it's nice and warm and safe in the box !! I like my box and how dare you try and make me leave it ..
'stiff upper lip' and 'worse things happen at sea' are amongst the list of platitudes that make me borderline homicidal , if someone genuinely wants to make my day/mood better then genuine offers of help and a non-judgmental listening ear is whats needed not a presumption based on an era when being press ganged meant a short painful future where cannon balls and maggots would feature heavily ..0 -
Not really an expression, but anyone who talks in cutesy/baby voice when they aren't actually talking to babies lol.
Also, adults using child-talk when talking to other adults. Bleh :sick:0 -
Supposably.
I had a boss who hand wrote an additional note on a fax - so no spell check - and she literally wrote SUPPOSABLY. And she was my friggin' boss - I had to work for this ninny.
In fact, I can make a blanket statement that misuse of the English language drives me batsh*t. Sadly, it has become acceptable now to include words in the dictionary as real honest-to-God words through sheer common usage. Shoot me now.
Non-speech related: when did it become acceptable to hit your brakes (not tap - I mean HIT your brakes) going through a GREEN light??? Come ON!
Oh lordy - I gotta go or I'll be here all night....0 -
YOLO - I can't stand it. As Jack Black said "it's Carpe Diem for stupid people"0

Arrrgggh , know several women who do this when trying to get men to do something for them , makes my palms itch just thinking about it ..to be honest I tend to hate it when people do it to children, older people and people with disabilities, conversations should be age and understanding appropriate (sorry social work student ..)0 -
"Same difference"
"At the end of the day"
So damn annoying.0 -
Anything referring to Monday...ON Monday...(early morning is ESPECIALLY annoying) A bad day at work is just a bad day at work. Dont "chaulk it up to just a case of the Monday's" UUUUGGGH, SO annoying!! On Monday..at work..the last thing I want to hear about is MONDAY, or whatever stupid little mishaps you can blame it on. I just want to get through it as fast as possible so I can see Friday on the horizon (aaahh, hello my friend Friday, where have u been??!!) :sad:0
-
swag... makes me want to throw up, enough already.
And... It is what it is, instantly pisses me off!0 -
"OK, but just the tip."0
-
"At the end of the day..."
Only heard from Jeremy Kyle degenerates.0 -
"OK, but just the tip."
lol I immediately thought of Archer0
