I don't, but I know people who do. And cooking, too! There's even an entry in the database for playing a musical instrument.0

I don't log it. I clean every day and I sweat like crazy while sweeping and mopping since I mop 2-3 times around the house and then vacuum the other half but I figure whatever I burn, if anything big or significant, it will just be an extra credit burn/weight loss0

No. So its just an added bonus. Beyond normal activity, I don't think the increase, in my case, would make it worthwhile.0
-
No, because it's something I normally do, part of my daily activity. It's included in my daily calories burned for my activity level.0

I don't log housework. The only time I count it is if I'm stuck cleaning the entire house in 1 day for a visit from family, which usually takes about 2-4 hours depending on how much I've let it go. It's something your always doing, and you did that before you started your journey, why log it then?0

Haha! that is so funny with the musical instrument thing...I can only thing drums would maybe burn some cals, I can`t see a flute player burning many!!0 -
I usually don't log in any walks, house work, shopping, etc. I usually log in any running, hiking, sport activity and/or weight lifting.0

If I'm cleaning a whole room (i.e. the entire kitchen, not just dishes) then yes. There's an option both for moderate cleaning and heavy cleaning and I'm on my feet staying active, so why not. If there were a log for sleeping, I'd probably do that too lol, since you even burn calories while you sleep (not many, but hey, it's still burning)0

I have realized that I didn't real do a lot of housework - I had the kids do just enough to keep it from getting really bad. Now that I am working on changing myself, I am taking on a lot more of the stuff that just didn't get done before. Heavier and more detailed stuff that never got done before. When I do these, I get very sweaty and out of breath, and I count it as exercise. It is an exertion that I am putting forth that is above the ordinary. Hopefully, these things will become more part of my everyday life, but in the meantime, I am taking credit for the changes I am making and logging it.0

I don't normally log house work in as exercise but I saw one of my friends do it. Today after cleaning the house I was sweating like a pig and was so tired *whew* felt like a workout to me.
My question is: Do you think I should log those minutes? and Do you log those minutes?
Depends on the type of cleaning. i won't log 15 minutes puttering around loading the dishwasher and folding laundry etc. However recently (yesterday) our house got listed for sale and i cleaned for about 2 weeks. on top of counters, polishing the hardwood floors, moving boxes to the basement, washing walls, etc. I sure logged those calories. I guess i only log it if i feel like i worked hard and for a long time.0 -
who does house work?0

I don't log this personally and I sweat most of the time. My family are slobs and I am always picking up after them. But I still don't log. Maybe I should lol0

I don't do a whole lot of housework, but when I do it draws a sweat so I would log it. I just spent the last hour washing and cleaning two vehicles, and trust me, it burns calories. I was sweating it out for the last 30-40 minutes so I logged it.0

It depends my mood. It counts in my eyes if you are getting a workout from it0

When I first joined mfp I logged general housework because I didn't have the stamina to get very good calorie burning workouts in and I wanted the extra calories. It also helped motivate me to clean the house! Now that I am able to get 600 to 800 calorie workouts in, I don't need to log it anymore. I do log if I am doing extra that I wouldn't normally do. Oh, if anyone thinks that I was cheating myself by logging those calories in the beginning, I lost weight while eating back those calories, so it must have been okay.0
-
No. Ever since I started MFP, I find it is best for me to avoid housework completely. :laugh:0

Since I do not mop, vacuum or do laundry/ hang out to dry etc, every day, I do log my housework. Because when I clean I bust my butt and am doing it movin0
