I think, when you belittle people, it shows a type of ignorance that is less tolerable then misspelling . If it is your employee or even child, then by all means, correct them . Most people will have far more respect for someone who smiles and moves past mispelled words, then someone who stops, points and makes them feel bad. There are a lot of people on this site. I assure you that they were not attracted here because they could learn to spell lose the the right way. As they " loose" weight, people will comment on their weight loss, not spelling ability. That should be our main focus on this site as well.

Agreed!!! Can't believe anybody would even dedicate a post to people not spelling a word correctly

    TOPIC: Come on people

I'll try to say this as tactfully as I can.

A well placed comma could have saved Monica Lewinsky's dress. It's just not polite to do that to people.
Well, poo. I actually opened this very thread to point that out.

It's annoying, yes. However, it's almost as annoying that you omitted a very important comma in the thread title.

    ^^^

Really? I think we're all adults and know which lose/loose someone is referring to. Too many threads get completely "hijacked" because O-M-G! A typo. I've seen so many ridiculously snarky responses to threads all due to a damned typo. grow up and realize not everyone has the privilege of being correct on every damned word they spell. Oh the horror of a typo! *gasp* A long post with nightmarish grammar is one thing, but one mistake? Whatevs. Seriously though, if you can't figure it out, you're stupider than the person who made the typo.

There are sum really stupid people on hear aren't their????

I'm sure this is a joke, but in case it's not, here goes....

    aren't should be *isn't
    aren't - means *are not
    sum should read some
So your sentence reads: There are sum really stupid people on here are not their????

and for the person that quoted *They're* which is short for they are, they're wrong. *There are* is correct.

    LMFAO

Yeah, the /sarcasm went way over your head. Perhaps you were sitting while reading?

"more important things to worry about". i've seen that reply twice so far and haven't even gotten to the 2nd page. just FYI: this forum is called: "CHIT CHAT, FUN & GAMES". people are so uptight sometimes it's astounding. maybe there needs to be a "SERIOUS FACE" thread.

    ::shake it off::

anyway, back on topic, the following make me cringe:
"lost" instead of "loss" (e.g. "fitness & weight lost")
"loose" instead of "lose" ("my jeans are too lose")
"every" instead of "ever" ("every since i moved here")
    ValentiMes day?
and of course the inevitable: they're, there, their
    you're/your
    wouldn't/shouldn't OF instead of HAVE

I have typos all day long on text email and on my posts. I really don't care. Some people can't spell.. some people can. That's life! Better things to worry about if people can or can't spell! Life is way to short to worry about the little things.

Sometimes I realized I typed in the wrong to or too (or hear, here, there, their). I know what the right ones are, but I guess my brain farts are SBD's.

You don't need the comma if you change the spelling of the first word

Where I find it most annoying is on something that should be an official record...diagnosis for a patient was "PAST OUT"...the registrars couldn't figure out what the problem was when I called them to correct it!

Official records are full of them! Discovered the other day that an official record for me said that I have 'Aspirgus'. I don't bother correcting them any more - last time it was 'Assburgers', so I suppose Aspirgus is an improvement on that!
