How do you squeeze in time to exercise?

There's no such thing as the excuse 'I don't have time to work out'. You just aren't making it a priority. If you have time to post in these forums, you have time to work out! You could be working out right now instead of typing. You just have to make it a priority.
Get up a little earlier. Squeeze in a workout in your lunch break. Park further away from work and walk. Bicycle to work. The possibilities are endless but you just need to make time for it.0 -
I used the 30 Day Shred, I went to bed 22 minutes later OR woke up 22 munutes earlier to fit it in.0

i squeeze mine in after work....between the times of 5-10pm...whenever i can get the time to go. Weekends i workout in the morning0

I get up earlier in the morning & do it then...... Then do 6 hours at work & usually go for a jog or cycle (depending on the day)
Just fit it in when you can, even if its only a bit a day, at least your still doing something :-)0 -
My alarm goes off at 4:30am
I am most happy to get up IF:
I have gone to bed the night before at an early hour
I have prepared my workout clothes.
I am very sad if I miss my early am time!!

I get up 1/2 hour earlier to do JM Ripped in 30. It's less than 30 mins. then I'm set for the day.0

You CAN fit into your schedule. MAKE it a priority.
Wake up earlier....or stay up later to work out...
If you have time to sit down on the internet to chat, you have time to workout. Workout while watching TV....tons of 10min or 12min exericse routines on Bodyrock.tv website.
Jump rope for 5mins in the morning.
Instead of sitting at your desk on lunch or at a table...WALK....
Multi-task...doing housework? Make it a workout! Put on some loud tunes and dance around the house while cleaning.
Running errands? Walk instead of drive...or bike ride. If you have to drive, park further away from the door or down the street....
Take the stairs...jump up and down while brushing your teeth....lift weights while at your desk....wear ankle weights while running errands....

Try incorporating it into what you are already doing...walk/jog while waiting for children at practice, make family time a workout, keep hand weights in your kitchen and do sets while waiting for water to boil, be creative with workouts. It does not have to be an hour in the gym...Good luck!0

I would start with the mindset of "squeezing it in". Do you "squeeze in" having meals? Do you not brush your teeth if you can't "squeeze it in"? Do you skip sleeping entirely on days where you can't "squeeze in" a full 8 hours?
See where I'm going with this?
I prioritized exercise by scheduling my workouts, as though they're just another meeting in my day. I'm an executive, sit on the board of a few different organizations and play a competitive, semi-pro sport. I get being busy, but it just means I have to plan better. And even more importantly, once I've planned, I have to make sure I execute better.0 -
BTW, not much I can give up at the moment to accommodate for exercise. I am tapped out.
Stop making excuses and CHOOSE TO DO IT0 -
Just like everything else in life. prioritize. We all have 24 hours each day. We make choices on how to spend it.0

I do it first thing in the morning. Sometimes, I'll do it in the evening, but I HATE that. I also started out doing 10 minutes a day and gradually worked up to do 60-90 minutes every day.0

I have two kids and a full time job. I get up at 4:45 am, workout at the gym, shower, and pack lunches/breakfasts before anyone else in the family is awake.0 -
Count me in the up early group! Some days it sucks but I feel so much better for having done it. In the end, that's way more important to me than the extra sleep that I usually don't really need.0

Get your *kitten* out of bed early and get it done. It sucks for like 3 or 4 days, then your body gets used to it. I'm running or lifting at 0500 every morning.0

If I have time to watch TV- I have time to exercise.
If I have time to shop- I have time to exercise.
At a minimum, I do a 30 min workout once a day. Even the president has 30 mins a day, that's how I look at it. :laugh:0 -
I go to the gym at 4:30 AM. Afternoons are jammed packed with kid's activities. I do it for me and for them. They need me to be healthy to be the best mommy I can be. That motivates me. No excuses here.

Instead of eating on my lunch break I go to the gym.
Then I have a protein bar or sandwich at my desk for lunch.0 -
I used to get up early and walk for an hour. Lately I've been doing a Jillian Michael's DVD (it takes no more than an hour) on afternoons we're home while my kids eat a snack and watch a cartoon, 2 nights a week I take a 45min fitness class at my son's taekwondo studio after his lesson.0

I have 3 boys, do childcare in home. Not regular hours either.
Jillian michaels 30 day shred is only 20 minutes. I lift weights at my friends garage with my husband and we work out less than half hour. JM I do at start of naptime about 12:30 when lunch is cleaned up. Lifting I do e/o day or so before or after supper.
I do Piyo with my Zumba instructor on Saturday mornings at 8am. Not much else going on, husband is home and while I gave up Zumba, Loving Piyo.
I wish I would have been motivated to eat better before I started working out though. I truly believe loosing weight is 90% diet. Working out will give you a toned look, but i also want the scale to move. So, if nothing else, just track your foods.0 -

Sometimes when I am at home and I feel unmotivated to work out and I say to myself, "I don't have time" as I am sitting there watching Judge Judy. Then I tell myself to get up and go for a jog or bike ride. There is time.0 -
I exercise anytime I can. I will drop and do 60 pushups wherever. I keep some 15 lb barbells under my desk at work for doing some bicep curls. Lots of walking, no stairs and park far away from the building.0

For me it is easiest if I go straight from the office to the gym. I find that if I go home first, it's easy to get distracted and I won't leave to go to the gym. I have a son that plays travel baseball and there have been numerous times when I've gone for a run while the kids were warming up because they have to be there an hour early. I have to sit through the games sweaty but at least I got my run in.
If I have plans at night, I wake up early and work out before work. I try not to make morning plans on the weekends so I can get my workout in and then have the rest of the day for family things.
I've run two marathons and the majority of my training runs were done before the rest of my family even got out of bed.
Also, I've let my family know that this is a priority for me. I'm going to be active every single day.0 -
It's just not about finding the time to squeeze in an exercise...it's about having the mentality and determination to do it too. Trust me when I tell you I used to be one of those as well. Granted I'm a single person with no kids so may not have the same type of schedule that some on this site do. I do leave a fulfilling life and had wondered about the same. I realized that I didn't have the mindset to make the effort to find the time like I do now.
Recent example: On occasion I do some business traveling and the hotels I stay at always have fitness facilities which I never even thought to use. On my recent trip to Baltimore a couple of weeks ago...I called ahead to the hotel I was staying at to ask if they had a fitness facility. One day during my trip and after recording my calorie intake, I was over 300 calories. As tired as I was...I was still determined to at least burn off the calories I was over. Not only did I do that...I was still 15 under. It may not seem like an accomplishment to some but to me it was. I was very proud of myself afterwards.

I have 3 kids all with different activities (football, dance, cheer, etc.) so count me in as an early riser. 5am I am running/riding for an hour or so. I also try to do something at lunch instead of sitting at the desk surfing the web.

As a working mom with 2 boys, my alarm goes off at 4 am M-F. I can get in about 90-120 minutes per day. I also take night classes after dinner and homework a couple of times a week. On the weekend, I have back to back classes on Saturday morning. I'm usually home before my family is even awake!
My crazy schedule has been gradually built up over a 2 year period. Just add a little at a time.
AND reward yourself for your efforts! My personal favorite is a nap in the afternoon on the weekend. :happy:0 -
I joined a gym that holds classes during lunch hour. A lot of my coworkers go there too, and we are really great at motivating and pushing each other. 45 minutes 5 days a week just from that.0
