    Yes it is.
Put a pound of fat and a pound of muscle in water!
The fat floats, muscle sinks. Therefore, the muscle is heavier.

No, therefore the muscle is denser. High school Chemistry, look it up. ;-) :drinker:

Why do people always say on here that muscle is heavier than fat?

    1lb of fat weighs 1lb.

1lb of muscle weighs.. guess what ... 1lb!!

1lb of anything always weighs the same!!!111!1

    Hope this helps lol

How about that.... then with this logic you and I weigh the same as 1 lb of you weighs the same as 1 lb of me, what a horse *kitten* argument this is.

Because muscle is more dense it naturally weighs more (in equal volumes). When someone says muscle weighs more than fat, they are implying by volume, since "by volume" is implied there is no reason to state it or question the validity of the statement itself.

compare weights for equal VOLUME and muscle weighs more then fat.

The casual conversation definition of what constitutes a heavy material vs a light material is the definition of density.

Seriously, semantics. Muscle is more dense than fat. One cup of muscle will weigh more than one cup of fat.

That is what people mean when they say it. They know a pound is a pound. But I guess you feel better now you showed us all how smart you are.

Welbert that is density, not weight:laugh:

Then why does a witch weigh the same as a duck??

Because she's made of wood, of course!

Because if the volume (not the weight) is the same for both, muscle is heavier due to density. Hope that helps.

I platitude at 271 for about 3 weeks.. I lost over 20 inches in those two weeks though so while my fat was shedding off I was gaining muscle equally the same.. People are so silly sometimes

How many ways can we say muscle is more dense than fat?
    Any takers...? :drinker:

why does one gallon of muscle weigh more then one gallon of fat?
why does one quart of muscle weigh more then one quart of fat?
why does one liter of muscle weigh more then one liter of fat?
why does one cubic inch of muscle weigh more then one cubic inch of fat?

compare weights for equal VOLUME and muscle weighs more then fat.

this makes more sense then your skewed logic anyway.. when I say Milk is heavier then gasoline, do you not first compare them for the same volume?

when I say steel is heavier then wood , do you not compare them with identical size blocks? You wouldnt argue with me because the small steel bar in your hand weighs less then a 12' long 4x4.. you could easily see the volume diff.

    This...exactly.

To the original poster, if you take a piece of muscle and a piece of fat that are exactly the same size, and then weigh them, the muscle would weigh more. If you take 1 pound of each, the fat would be bigger. That's why someone who's 200 lbs of mostly fat would be bigger than someone who is 200 lbs of mostly muscle. Stop being a jerk!
