Is there anything specific besides crunches I should be doing? I know I will get all over smaller as I lose but I seriously carry all my weight in my belly and need some ideas...Thanks!

You should be doing everything else but crunches, useless spine destroying anti-exercise designed to create dysfunctional bodies.
Stand on one leg, hold a bag of shopping in the other hand, switch sides. progress to single leg deadlifts
Walk with a full heavy as possible suitcase whilst keeping a straight back - switch sides - progress to heavier loads and greater distance
Learn Turkish Get Ups
Learn Dead Lifts
Learn Squats
go to nowloss.com for great beginner workouts that teach HiiT, less time more burn.0 -

Sorry, made me laugh. The idea of someone doing crunches who already has a bad back, irony. Yes, you must try anything else BUT CRUNCHES.
research core anti-flexion exercises and core anti-rotation this will give you great ideas to improve your back.0 -

Know what crunches do? Develop abdominals. Know what that does if you're fat? Makes your stomach bigger.
Lose fat (read; not weight). Or Liposuction.0 -
What about those "Roman Chair leg Raises"0

Just lose weight and do some type of resistance exercise. Your belly will go away. Don't be surprised to have to get lighter than you expect to get your belly as flat as you like.0 -
I' m just over half way through p90x and it's gone down several inches (finally glad to see some progress after a year of doing circuit training and running every day). I finally don't look pregnant anymore. Still have a few inches to go tho. It's weird because everywhere else is pretty thin and my arms are sticks. Can't believe that at 5' 6" and 123lbs I'm still carrying around extra fat like @sublog said0

Also doing P90X day 62 as of this post. Lost many inches. AbX 3 times per week plus as they say, and I agree, 75% of Abs are made in the kitchen. Best of luck in your journey0

Spot reducing fat is a myth.
Doing belly exercises does NOTHING to reduce belly fat!

Like others said core strengthening and overall workouts (cardio). I have been doing Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack and despite the name, it is an all over aerobic workout (with a lot of focus on the core). I do it in addition to other workouts.0

This is my first post here, but I've been reading for several months. I've seen people ask about this before, and I'm always amazed that no one suggests using a weighted hula hoop. I got one last year. I didn't change ANYTHING else in my routine, only added 15-20 minutes a day of using the hula hoop. In two months I lost four inches in my waist. Yes, four inches. I think I maybe lost a couple of pounds during that time, but nothing significant. I wasn't doing very well with food at the time most of the time. I was absolutely stunned at my results. I have kept up the hula hooping and haven't lost much more around the waist since that time, but I have maintained the four-inch loss I obtained in those first two months.
There are weighted hoops you can buy at sporting goods stores, but my favorite is a hoop that is padded and has some kind of liquid inside. The only place I know that you can get that type is at http://www.amazingfitnesshoops.com/home.
Good luck losing that belly!0 -
Ab reduction has a lot to do with what you eat. I can send more info later running out of time. message me if your interested0

If you're looking for an exercise to eliminate fat around your belly, forget it. It doesn't exist. You need to lose weight in general, improve your diet, etc. Sadly, the stomach is oftentimes the last holdout, a fat Alamo, if you will.
You can strengthen your stomach muscles, so when you lose the fat over time, muscles will show. Lifting heavy is a great way to develop stomach muscles. Planks are great. Avoid the crunches.

when you get to that point, its time to start lifting weights and try to add some muscle mass. There comes a point in time where you get too skinny to lose more weight despite the fact you still have stubborn fat left.0 -
bump. I fell your pain sister0

do you go to a gym? i do a ton of core workouts and rarely do crunches. i use kettleballs ,stand tall and suck my gut in and walk as fast as i can back and forth in the gym..try to do it for three times , a minute each time.
the exercise ball - look up exercises on line to do with them ..its too hard to describe all i do on one
planks!0 -

Planks are an easy way to strengthen the whole core in balance which will reveal a nicely toned midsection once you lose the fat. They can be done *almost* anytime and anywhere. Great for the posture and thus also great confidence builder!0 -

Sucking in your gut seems like the right thing to do but it isn't. You need to learn to abdominal brace, and that is almost the opposite of sucking in (or hollowing), but as daft as it seems it is correct. Google the term, you will be pleased to learn the difference and how it helps you to perform better. Also, power breathing.0 -
If you're carrying extra weight, you need to focus on maintaining a healthy calorie deficit and just be patient. It'll come off.
If you're looking for exercises to strengthen your stomach/core, things like squats and planks are great.0
