Wow...onto week three! I'm starting the thread early and posting my weigh-in early...hope that's okay! Just SO excited when I weighed myself this morning!!! MOMMY'S MAKING PROGRESS!!!! :bigsmile: I've now lost a total for 10.5 pounds since I started back on here!!! WOOOHOOO!!!! Now, I'll weigh again tomorrow and if it changes I'll adjust, but I was just so darn excited!

WAY TO GO KRISTIN!!!
Alright, so I'm going to try to come back. I'm not going to be able to post all through the day like I used to but I'll do my best with personals at the end of the day or something! I just need my Sixers back. I lost so much ground after my running injury benched me and I felt extremely depressed on top of not getting my 10,000 calories a week in exercise!
For the many new peeps here, I'll give a quick intro and I'd love one from you too! My name is Rhiannon and back in the summer of 2008 I joined a 13 week (20lbs) challenge where I also met Cathy and Kristin. We went strong through the whole 13 weeks and wanted to keep going afterward so we started doing little 6-week challenges (first spurred on because of the time between the end of the 13 weeks and the holidays). Last summer I began training for a half marathon which places a pretty big demand on time. I'm also homeschooling my two kiddos, Ava and Leith (5 & 3) http://chroniclesofparenting.bambinibags.com and have a baby sling business http://bambinibags.com so we've got a lot to keep us busy! Also my daughter (upon request) is taking 2 dance classes, singing lessons and gymnastics this year. WHEW! In the fall I injured my knee and haven't been able to run in almost 4 months. I'm able to get back to step classes most of the time now (sometimes I still get some knee pain) and the eliptical and walking are also okay. I'm a very motivated, active and goal-oriented person so feeling benched has been extremely hard on my morale. I went completely back to my "old ways" and medicated myself with the worst foods. I feel completely re-invested in my goals though, and having gone from fat to fit and BACK to fat, I can say I will NEVER back-slide again. So that's me! I set a goal of losing 8lbs in 5 weeks (I happen to have 3 weeks left in those 5 weeks so it works out nicely with this challenge!) and I'm down 4. Feels great!

Rhiannon... It is SO GREAT to have you back...!!! I always love your posts, such motivation (something I need more of when it comes to weight loss).
I am curious how the scale looks in the am... TOM may sway it in the wrong direction... but I did well this weekend compared to the typical senario... :laugh: so who knows... back in the am!!!0 -

So...
My name is Kristin. I am 26, married, and had my first baby girl, Kadence, 9-5-09. I started on MFP in November 2007 after I got married (7-7-07) and "comfy" in the relationship and gained LOTS of weight. Like Rhiannon mentioned, in the summer of 08 I joined a group and met Rhiannon and Cathy and we stuck together with a few others and started doing the 6 week challenges! I used to be a crazy gym-goer but now that I have a five month old at home, that doesn't happen. So, we inherited a treadmill from my in-laws and that has been working beautifully along with a great post-preggo Ab video. I'm hoping to get back to my BodyPump, Spinning, and Step classes soon, but for now, treadmill time is plenty for me! I have always wanted to get certified to teach fitness classes, and it's still my ambition. I have LOTS of work to do before I get there, but I am fully prepared for that challenge ahead of me! So...I have about 35 pounds to lose to reach my goal weight, but would like to gain some muscle along the way as well!

A little bit about me...
So about 1 year ago I was looking for some motivation to get back in shape... and came upon MFP and the Sixers... I have been on and off since then, at one point I was about 5lbs away from my goal... now, not so much. BUT the important part is that I am back and very motivated.
So I was always active and fit, a skinny little b*tch that could eat everything as my friends would say... well, they also said it would catch up with me... guess what... it did. So now I am in my 2nd year of grad school working on my PhD.... the BF of 4 years is moving down here in about a week and we are buying a house... we also have a BIGGG goofy puppy that needs to run and play for hours a day (or else... hahaha). So in terms of my weight / fitness goals I want to tone up and drop about 30 lbs... I don't want to get back to the HS weight but to a place where I feel good. I need to get my eating habits in check first and then I am going to start running again... and hopefully in about a year I will be ready to train for a trialthlon again... I am a LONG ways away from this right now, but I know I can do it as long as I stay motivated! go sixers!!!0 -
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH... step away from the organic "smarties".... I need to get past the inclination to make poor nutritional choices on the day I have a good weigh-in. You'd think that I would be inspired by progress but somehow it translates to feeling like I have wiggle room. How can I manage to see it that way rather than acknowledging the 65 or so lbs I want to lose!!! Sheesh.
What I must acknowledge, even when I don't want to: when it comes to sweets, breads and pastas (generally, refined grains) it doesn't seem to matter how balanced I'm feeling, once I get any taste of it I will just keep going. Read: my problem over the last 4 months!!! The solution? It ISN'T going to be found by doing the same stuff that caused my problems in the first place! Another bummer: I love making super healthy, whole foods for my family. I don't buy bread from the store, I make it and even mill some of the flour myself. That's not the bummer. What's a shame is the fact that I make freakin delicious bread and I have a wicked hard time having just one piece. I know I am capable of making it and not having any because I've done that plenty. It's just hard to get back in the habit! But I'd rather fit into my clothes again :ohwell:

I dont make my own bread but am the same way. I LOVE to have a piece of toast with some peanut butter on it. But I recently realized that I DO NOT have the ability to have just ONE piece. Several slice's later I am mad at myself! So I have decided that I just cant have toast at all!0

I stumbled upon the "sixers" about 1 1/2 years ago in the threads. It seemed like a good fit for me!
I am a 36 yr old SAHM(well, for another week until I return to the working world) of 2 boys, Bryce 14 & autistic, Owen 6 and just started full time Kindergarten this year. I was the skinny girl who worried about nothing related to food until I had my 2nd son. Since then I have weighed anywhere from 208 pounds to 182 pounds but no lower than that. I lost my father almost 3 yrs ago to a massive heart attack at the young age of 55. I really need to change. I have not made much progress due to the struggle with alot of medical issues. I am working on resolving the last one and hope that it has been cured in the next few months with a new amazing iron supplement I am taking. As my energy increases, I hope my ability to exercise does to. I love it when I work out but have a hard time convincing my tired body and mind to do it.

Mini-victory..... my grannys 70th birthday was tonight .... they were doing KFC and cake and all that .... and i had one breast, 1/4 cup mashed potato, fresh cabbage slaw (no mayo or sugar), and a tiny sliver of carrot cake ! Im very proud ... because i did my firm this morning and a 20 minute speed mile this afternoon.... and still managed to be UNDER calories ...... !!!!!! its nice to know you can still celebrate things without going OVER your calories ! now lets hope that breast and sliver of cake doesnt hinder good numbers in the morning ! :ohwell:
PAm- im glad you like your new EA active game... and that is awesome it gives you the calories you burnt ! way to go ! youll make up those 2 lbs in no time ! could totally be fluid ! good luck !

*About Me*
my names amy, Im 22 years old..... wife to a great hubby since december 2005.... and I had my son august 2008..... He is almost 18 months old ... on the 15th of this month ! time is flying ! my weight journey began three months before my wedding when i went on birth control to get used to them ..... and started gaining weight..... six months later or more... we realised it was the pill that caused all that weight to come on ...... i went from 165 up to 235 ..... I was devastated.... i was only 19 .... just married... and hurting from being so overweight...... So i started working out etc.... a few lbs here or there.... and i got pregnant .... made themistake of EATING FOR TWO ... but ended up miscarrying 12 weeks later.... Talk about sad ..... i just ate bad ..... after that .... almost a year later i got pregnant with my son.... thankfully he was a happy, healthy, beautiful baby boy ! i went into the hospital at 276 ... came out about 265 or so ... and over the last 18 months .... ive gotten as low as 260 ..... but kept gaining the same lbs back over nd over again ! argh ! so i joined MFP three weeks ago ... and went from 276... to 267 last week ! who knows what tomorrow will hold ... but whatever it is ... im sticking to this ! All that besides.... Im happily married.... loving my life as a mommy .... i was a photographer ..... but tough competition on such a small island (i live in the bahamas) .... so It wasnt enough business to go around... so i gracefully bowed out..... !!!!!

Hi Sixers - I just wanted to pop in and say I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. Got a call Friday that my grandfather was going on round the clock hospice care. His body is shutting down. So I drove to Cali and have been spending 13 hours a day at the assisted living with my mom and other family members. It's been a long 3 days and it isn't over. Not to mention we have an hour 15 min drive each way every day. This is the first time I turned my computer on since Friday and only because I had to pay a bill online. Anyway - I won't be able to weigh in tomorrow since my scale is 200 miles away at my house. Not sure when I'll get back home. I'll check in with you all when I can. You all are doing a great job - Keep up the hard work!!0

I am so so so glad i lost a lb this week ! I had big numbers two weeks in a row... and ive started a strict exercise routine ..... the firm three days and walking 1-3 miles 5 days a week .... so i know im going to start building muscle.... this week my mini goal is to be more aware of the calories i use ! last week i had two days (mainly just the weekend) where i was under but was under with not so good foods...... so BETTER nutrition and lots of water ! Yay one more lb closer to my goal !!!!!! three more weeks to lose 7 lbs !!! i can do it !!!!

Sorry ladies, I'm just here to vent.
Things have been stressful (whose world isn't?) and I'm not sure if it's the new birth control pills or what, but I feel on the verge of tears constantly and "lonely" (while being surrounded by a houseful of people). Anyway, husband and I already got into something this morning while getting kids ready, finishing up work, and getting them off to school. So I sneaked an oatmeal cream pie (170 calories for like three bites). Didn't satisfy me so I grabbed two, no wait, THREE more packages and started heading down into my "dungeon" to work, telling myself that I don't care if I don't have self-control. Then I thought of all you wonderful gals and realized i DO care if I have self-control. I'm better than my stresses. So I went upstairs and threw them back in their box on top of the refrigerator and came down here to vent.
The pain is still there in my side, still never got my period, and I'm emotional. The upside to the pills? Someone reinflated my deflated balloons. I wasn't even an A cup and the stretch marks and all literally made them look like were those sad balloons that the air leaked out of slowly and are all crumply (nice visual huh). Well, I went to put my bra on and actually filled out the cup (sad that I'm excited about being a full A). So someone finally filled my balloons back up.
With that being said, that air must weigh like 4 lb or something according to the scale (or maybe it's the bad food choices I've made throughout the past week). So I think I'm going to forego the weigh-in this week and just focus on getting myself back together. I'll see what the scale says tonight. If it makes me cry, then it doesn't count, right?
Anyway, sorry for not getting to personals. I'll work it in today or tomorrow morning.

Everyone else...HELLO!
Well, yesterday I ended up going home early because Kadence was sick. Here's a bit of info if I haven't shared in the past: I breastfeed when at home and pump at work. And even though I usually pump about 10 ounces during the day, she still wants more and now we add some into her rice cereal, so we have been going through tons. We tried regular formula a while back and she couldn't keep it down so we though she had a lactose intolerance. So the doctor gave us lactose-free formula to try, but she couldn't keep that down either. So then we tried soy, which she didn't like at first, but was able to keep down. The past week and a half or so, my husband (who is home with her during the days right now) has been giving her about 2 ounces of soy formula mixed with 4-5 ounces of breastmilk and she's had no problems. She's even had a few full bottles of just soy formula when at my moms and my in-laws. But yesterday she threw up everything after her mid-morning feeding, just like she did with the regular and lactose-free formulas. SO...we took her to the doctor to see what was going on, maybe an ear infection or something, but all looked fine. So, could be a tummy bug or maybe she's developing an allergy to the soy. And if so, she can't have ANY formula! SO frustrating! Can anyone relate? I just can't believe she could be developing an allergy to the soy also...then we have NO backup if there's not enough breastmilk. I don't get it?!?! So, I'm also trying to up my milk production...drinking TONS of water and taking Fenugreek which is supposed to help. We will see. But she's doing fine now...we gave her pedialyte yesterday and she was nursing fine and acting normal again by evening. AND slept ALL night for the first time in weeks!!!! I'm hoping that starts back up again! Sorry to vent...just so frustrating!

Hello, I'm Alison and I joined MFP in September 2009 when one of my best friends was living with me for a month in a transitional time for him, and he was looking good! He had lost 70 lbs in about two years, and he really gave all of the credit to MFP. I had lost about 80 lbs previously, and put back 70 of them. I guess I found the 70 lbs my friend lost.
I graduated from law school in May 2009, and the last two years of law school were super stressful and busy, and then when I finally thought I could be healthy again, I had to study for the bar exam, and put on the last 20 or so lbs of that gain. At my lowest, I was 174 and very healthy -- I ate a ton of fresh food and was working out in my apartment's workout room and going for 5-7 miles walk/jogs a few times a week. But then a bunch of stuff happened at once -- I started getting some attention about my body and it made me very uncomfortable (I've been in a serious relationship for over 5 years, so I'm really not looking for attention from anyone else), I got onto Law Review at my school and had to start waking up at 7am and going to bed at 1am and spent basically all of my time on school work (no time to cook or work out as much as I had been), and then I fractured my foot and had to put the brakes on the jogging. With all of that going on, I basically gave up. At that point, I was hovering around 185-190, and somehow seemingly overnight, I was done with the bar exam and weighed 245! I guess patching up my broken relationship with ole Krispy Kreme wasn't such a good idea after all. What I learned from all of this is that no matter how stressed out I am and no matter how slow the weight loss is at times, it's so much better than gaining another 20, or 50, or 70 lbs.
Verda -- I didn't work out at home, but we were finally able to leave the house, so I got to walk around a few stores and being outside definitely made my winter blahs feel better. I am going to have to go back to doing the Walk Away the Pounds workouts though, because it really doesn't look like this snow is going to be off of the roads and sidewalks any time soon, and I don't need to break my neck just to get in a jog.
Rhiannon -- Good to meet you! It's great that you're getting back on track, even with everything going on in your life. It sounds like your little girl is having a blast with all of those dance and singing and gymnastics classes. Adults would be so much healthier if we all wanted to take dance and gymnastics! Processed carbs get me off track too, and make me feel bloated. Funny that I still enjoy them, isn't it? When I'm being really good and want something sweet, I eat two Sunsweet Ones (yeah, they're prunes, but I call them dried plums to make myself feel better about being in love with prunes). If you haven't tried them, at least give them a try. They're like big juicy raisins. I love them, and I'm not even a big fan of raisins.
Kristin -- I'm sorry your sweet girl can't just tell you what she'd like to be eating. I like that you want to teach fitness classes. Go for it! After college (before law school) I considered becoming a personal trainer so that I could really focus on health and fitness as a mandatory part of my life. I'm sure things would be much different now for me if I had done that. It probably would have been a really good decision.
Em -- Congrats on the house and all! What are you in grad school for? I just got out of law school, so I know how that can make it hard to stay in shape. You're in the right place though!
Amy (pdx) -- Ready to start work? I'm working more and more hours each week, and it's making me tired! I was almost starting to enjoy all of the freedom of unemployment, but the paycheck is nice too. :-)
Amyls -- Great job staying on track in a social situation! That is my biggest challenge. I can go out and just drink diet coke, but if I have any alcohol or food, I'm out of control. Awesome will power!
Emmie -- I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. Remember to take a little time for yourself if you can, even if it's just a few minutes to sit quietly and let your emotions settle down a little.
Cathy and AmyLou -- Yay for the losses!
Lula -- I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Great job limiting the oatmeal cream pies. Hopefully the effects of the pills will even out soon, but at least you got a free "inflation" out of them!

I guess being able to post a small loss is better than heading in the other direction. I definitely fell off the wagon after last week's weigh-in and then struggled the second half of the week to get myself back on track. Sometimes, staying compliant is so much more of a frustrating struggle than I could ever imagine. Some people blame processed and fast food for overeating issues. I'd rather point fingers at my job, employer, life in general. If those were less stressful, staying away from extra snacks and overeating at meals would be that much easier.

Kristin, you should also add Blessed Thistle to your fenugreek repertoire. It will definitely help milk supply There is also a goat milk-based formula that you can make with cooking barley, goat milk and some other ingredients. It has been used for babies as young as new born for literally hundreds of years. If you want, I can get the recipe from my aunt again who gave it to me when I had some early issues to resolve with Ava's breastfeeding. Let me know!!
Alright, well I'm off to it! Excited because I got ahold of 2 BodyPump dvd's. There isn't a club here that offers them so I'm glad to be able to do them at home!
