How long are you at the gym?

In the beginning, I was not at the gym for more than an hour (and by at the gym, I do not include time to change/shower/etc.)
I always spend about 10 minutes warming up.
Then, I spend about 5 or 10 minutes doing a slow, good stretch (each stretch lasts 30-60 seconds)
My workout will be 30-60 minutes. Sometimes, if I am in the mood, I will make my workout longer. On those days, I spend the first part doing strength training, and in the second part, I will do cardio.
I always cool down for 10 minutes.
So, if you are not used to going to the gym on a regular basis, I suggest spending 1 hour for your workout, INCLUDING the warm up, stretch, workout, and cool down. When it is time for you to step it up, then add more time to your workout time. It is always a good idea to incorporate variety into your workout, with strength training and cardio. No matter what your workout goal is, you need to work out all parts of your body to make all parts stronger.
Make sure you warm up, stretch, and cool down. I have always included this in my workout routine, and I have never been injured as a result.
I am not a fitness trainer; I got this information from research over the years and from my personal workout routine. I have gotten fitness tips from my gym's website and their televisions. My gym has offered free personal training sessions, too, and I learned from them.0 -
It depends on what type of workout I am doing. Typically I do 60-90 minutes of cardio, 25 minutes of strength training, and 20-30 minutes of steam room/sauna.0

I usually do about an hour to hour and a quarter, 5 days a week. Typically do a 5 minute warm up, followed by 30 mins of strength and 25-30 mins of cardio. There is almost always about 10 minutes spaced throughout where I am wandering around trying to remember which machine I use for what workout in my training book, not to mention a moment or two laughing at myself as I nearly fall off the equipment or get tangled in my Ipod cords.It goes by in a blink. I'm there for 60-90 minutes daily.
1 hour of strength + 30 minutes cardio on Mon, Wed, Fri
1 hour Yoga, or other fun class on Tues, Thurs, Sat

I swim for 4hours a week (circa 8 miles) and i'm doing P90x which is about 9hrs a week slogging it out at home!

I do 30-60 mins cardio (depending on how much time I have), 30 mins strength training, and 10 min.stretching. This 5-6 times per week. I also do 30 mins of cardio on my treadmill at home each morning when I get up.0

I take a 45 spin class and add in 20-30 minute of weight-bearing cardio before or after class 4x a week.0

Well as I work at one, usually around 8 hours
My workouts are mixed up though.
4 days a week I will do an hour weights, 5-6 days a week of an hour cardio and I might mix it up with some yoga every once in awhile as well. I try do the weights/cardio sessions separately so will do weights either before/in my lunch break and then cardio usually once I finish.0 -
30-45 minutes. Its about getting the workout I need for my body, Quality over Quantity!
I hear lots of young guys say "When I started I could only workout for an hour now I'm killing it for 3 hours" So is the goal to spend 8 hours working out? I have better stuff to do! lol0 -
About an hour of lifting then fifteen or twenty minutes of walking after.0

I'm a SAHM with a 3 year old so we spend 3 hours at the YMCA. I drop my daughter at the Playcare for 2 hours so that she can socialise while mommy works her butt off. Then we hit the pool together for 1 hour. We go at least 3 times per week and sometimes 4. We have to drive 15 minutes to get there so we make it count.0

start with this:
10-15 min warm up on the treadmill
30-60 minutes for weight training, depending on my goals for the day and what I'm working (3-4 days/week)
Stretch 10-20 minutes afterwards, depending on how I'm feeling.
Or, begin by taking some instructor-lead classes, to ease you into the habit of a structured work out.0
