Fifi (originally Foetus) is a beautiful grey(silver) domestic long hair kitty iv had her 11 years. she was originally the runt of the litter and was raised by triain hop[ping punkrock friends of mine. they asked if i would watch her for a few weeks one june but didnt come home till september at which time i had to declare ownership of her. her personality reflects those circumstance as she was improperly fed at random intervals and random foods such as hot pockets and slim jims. once i had her she went to the vet got fiixed up and fed well and loved every single day since. she LOVES to snuggle down (as i call it) cause she doesnt just rest on me but loves to get between my body and my left arm and nudges her nose and head deap into my underarms. shes the most adorable cute lover kitty. (to me) and though ive had cats around my whole life she is the one i will always remember most fondly. even during times when i had substance abuse problems she would communicate that she wanted me to sleep and come down etc... and i would couldnt resist her wisdom of meow

I have a 6 year old devil cat that is probably grumpy at me for shutting him out of my room for the night. His adopted *big* (both literally and figuratively) sister is also a devil cat (8 years old) and belongs to my dad. <3 I remember them very fondly as being teeny tiny kitties.

I'm a mad animal lover, all sorts of animals. We have 3 cats of our own who are the most amazing girls. We absolutely love them to pieces.

I'm involved in a few different animal welfare causes and organisation. Recently I was asked to assist in the rescue of 30+ cats from an outer laying area where a hoarder had 'saved' them over an amount of time.

It's the hardest thing I have ever done. These cats are healthy, but they are anti-social to the point of some being officially classified as 'feral'. I have to make a heartbreaking decision with some of them regarding euthanisation. My policy is simple. If the animal in question has no quality of life, lives with constant fear and pain, and has no hope of being rehabilitated, then I will make the call. But we are doing everything in our power to avoid that. We are fundraising like mad to cover all the expenses involved in saving these cats. They are having complete vet work done and we will purchase anything that will assist in their rehabilitation.

Whilst we can't do any of this without money, money really isn't our biggest problem. We are desperately looking for Foster families who have the patience, love, tolerance and understanding to follow the procedures in place to help these lovely cats adapt to a 'normal' life situation. We have an article written by a professional in 'taming feral cats' that we encourage our Fosters to adopt. But let's face it...kitten season is upon us here in Australia, and who can be bothered with a temperamental, frightened grown cat (they are between 18 months and just over 2 years), when they can easily pick up a cute fluffy kitten :(

So far we have brought 10 of these cats in, they have been desexed and had all other vetwork done. Our success rate is higher than we expected with rehabilitation, but we are still desperately searching for Foster homes for second stage, and for permanent homes for 4 of them who are ready now to find a family to love, and learn to trust again with.

The reason I do this...the reason I don't give up....is this. The first of our girls to be brought in, is currently at the local Vet's in their personal adoption program, looking for her forever home. This girl was scared out of her wits when we first went out there. Within days, when I went to visit her and spend time with her socialising, she wrapped her tiny little arms around my neck and clung on for dear life. She nudged up against my chin, and simply hung on for the entire hour and a half I sobbed all over her. She didn't care how wet my tears made her. She was just happy to be held.

Our next two who are waiting for their permanent families to find them are at a local pet shop (the wonderful people allow us to sell rescues there and don't charge a single cent for the service, plus they feed them out of their own pockets for the duration). These two have come ahead in leaps and bounds and are absolutely ready for adoption. They are loving, amusing, darling little girls.

The fourth cat we have just placed into second stage Fostering, is also more than ready for a permanent home. The minute he was introduced to a proper home/family situation, he completely came out of his shell, made himself at home, made friends with their cat, and spends his days being cuddled, playing, or lazing on the lounge.

It really is the most amazing, but stressful, rewarding, but frightening thing I've ever done. Just seeing the achievements they have made already gives me hope to go on.

But we can not do it without people. People got them into this mess in the first place, and it's up to us to help them.

    Wish us luck :)

I acquired our rescue Tom same time as I got the hubby. Tom (named by the spca...) is a middle eastern breed called Dilmun short hair. They are closer to wild cats than most domestics are, he's big bad and a little cranky- but we love him! He has buckets of personality and now he's getting old he's a bit more snuggly. Turning into a vampire too, we have to put him in the wardrobe for a nice dark day sleep. At his worst he weighed 9kg, but has now slimmed to 7.2kg. The lady feeding him while we were on hols (next door's cleaner) said after 4 weeks of stuffing him- I think it's pregnant!!

We also have an outdoor girl kittie (the tribble- there used to be lots of em!) who has adopted us, but we have to keep her outside and him mostly inside, otherwise he pees around the house for months- as we discovered when we kept her in overnight after getting her fixed. She's more like a dog, walks down the street with us, and is so much sweeter and friendlier than the old fella, but we love em both!

Aww, your kitties are all so cute. I love cats so much.

I have two. Sally is my tabby. She's about 7 now. I don't know exactly because I got her from a shelter six years ago and they guessed she was about a year old then. She's the cuddliest, clingiest, neediest kitty ever. Whenever I only move my hand, she comes running and wants me to pet her. When I do, she goes crazy, rubbing herself against my hand and she actually starts drooling. A little gross but ah well...

Äffchen is...uhm...I think she's a calico? You know, the ones with black and brown sprinkled fur. And she has ginger stripes on her cheeks, so it looks like she's prepared for war. Äffchen means little monkey in German and I don't think I could find a more fitting name for her. For a cat, she's pretty awkward. You know how everyone says cats are graceful? Not Äffchen. When she runs, she sort of skips, she never jumps but lets herself drop off and her favorite hobby is crawling and climbing all over the couch like an actual monkey. But I heart her. She's about 2 now but she never quite dropped the kitten. She always wants to play and actually retrieves toys like a dog. The only downside is that Sally gets reeeeaaaally annoyed by her and hisses at her all the time because she simply doesn't want to play. Some people said I should get a third cat with a similarly playful character to keep Äffchen entertained when I can't play with her but I don't know...my apartment isn't huge and I don't want more than two cats. =/

I have two cats, down from three.

Recently we lost an eighteen year old Siamese female to age and cancer. She remained loud and the diva of the house til the end, and thoroughly in love with my husband.

We now are down to Puck and Cameline.

Puck is a large black shorthaired cat, who is more than slightly dim, but very loving. He regularly lies on the seat of the dining room chairs to sleep. As he falls asleep, he begins to melt, and hang over the edge. And over....and over....and...THUD! And he looks up at the chair with a look of "Why did you push me off? That wasn't nice!" and gets up and does it again. He also can't figure out the bed curtains or the cat door. As I said, a little dim.

Cameline is an Angora-type longhaired red tabby tuxedo female, who knows she is lovely, and has blossomed into the new diva of the house. She writhes and drools under the brush, loving every minute of it, and she is the reason the kitchen trash can has a brick in the bottom. She loves to cuddle on her own terms with people, and likes to sleep on my feet in the winter.

We lost our beloved black tabby Thomas to cancer aged 15 about 3 years ago.

We now have Amy. She's another rescue cat. Her previous owners moved house and left her behind.
When she was found shed been living rough for a few weeks, and as a result is a prolific hunter!! The first few weeks she ate everything we fed her and still has a large appetite.
She also has a bald shoulder where we think she must have been burned and now the fur doesn't grow.
She's black with a white bib and paws so it looks like she's wearing socks.

She has a lot of attitude but is very loving, and is sat on my lap as my ipad rest right now!

    WemblyBoober2-1.jpg

My two, Wembly and Boober. Boober is the smaller black one. She's 11, and I adopted her from Animal Control. Wembly is the larger blue/grey, and he came from a co-worker who rescued a pregnant stray and then found homes for the kittens and kept the mom after he had her fixed <3. Wembly is 10. I've had them both since they were babies.

Boober is part Siamese (we know this because she has the nose and the yowl) and is very talkative, just like your typical Siamese. She's also very kittenish - even at age 11 her tail is the best toy ever.

Wembly is a big 'un - 20lbs. The vet says 18 is a good weight for him, and he's getting there. We've had some issues with him as he has irritable bowel syndrome, but we've found a food/medication combo that works for him. He's one of the reasons I'm doing this, actually. "If I'm making my cat get in shape, I better do it, too."

Edited to resize this picture to something decently viewable without being ginormous

I have 1 kitty that lives with me, and one that lives with my mom. My kitty I got from my parents. She is a bit aloof at times, but she likes to snuggle with me when I'm laying down to sleep. She hides from the kids, though. They definitely get too excited about a kitty. We've had her for 2 years? She's a tuxedo cat, with the white off her chin extending up past her right eye. Her name is Shiva

The kitty still at my mom's house is at least 10 years old. I brought her to my mom's house as a "present" for my younger brother. Come to find out, she had a raging case of ring worms. We treated her, for what seemed like forever. She's also not keen on the children, but she's old, partially deaf, and partially blind now. She's a mostly white cat, with some grey patches. Her name is Angel (or Baby, depending on who you ask).

I'd love more cats, but I can't. I'm mildly allergic, and my husband is as well. We've tried more than 1 cat at a time and it just doesn't work for us.

    Hai.... We have 4 cats.

Zorro a big stripey boy whos'a a mummys boy he's now 11 and his brother Peanut an equally big stripey fluffy boy. They usually vie for my lap and I end up with one sitting on the other...

I have Chloe a 15 year old tortoiseshell girl who my great Aunt got from the Blue Cross as a 2 year ols and 8 years ago she died so I had her. She's gone from a 'dont care' cat to the sweetest little thing, although she's lost her voice recently so just squeaks..

Lastly I have Scrappy Doo who I 'rescued' from a locked stable in 2005. He's now 7 but acts like a little kitten... He likes to dribble on you to wake you up in the mornings..

We also have in the family Spock a 17 year old homebred tabby and a semi feral rescue who came with his brother to chase the rats away, but his brother has vanished ... 5 horses and a dopey greyhoundxcollie.... Tomorrow OH and I going to see 2 puppies... Bring on the fur

This is the newest addition to our household. His name is Chester Cheetah after the Cheetos mascot but we just call him Chester. We got him last month when he was 4 weeks old. He is so smart he immediately figured out how to use the cat door and LOVES to be outside watching the birds and squirrels with my other two full grown cats Bella and Bob
