Bump! I need help too, everything I have tried ends up bland. Which is odd, because I love my regular quick oats0
-
Me too! I think I'll try raisins to sweeten it up a bit!0
-
applesauce, walnuts and dried cranberries.0

For 1 cup of dry steelcut oats, I use half of a large grated apple, 1 cup silk pure coconut milk, 3 cups water, dash of salt. To me it is perfect this way, but sometimes I add a few raisins or seeds or nuts.0
-
I love to put raisins with cinnamon and a little brown sugar or Truvia. Apple and cinn is also good!0
-
Cinnamon, honey, milk, and peanut butter. Maybe some dried fruit. I've heard that some people use parmesan cheese and crumbled bacon for a savory meal, but I haven't tried it.0
-
Coconut flakes (if you don't mind the added fat). Quite tasty!0

just a tbsp of brown sugar and a splash of milk. mmmmmm.... old school.....0

Short answer is anything you can think of Longer answer, lately I've been loving adding pumpkin puree, cinnamon, nutmeg and some white chocolate. Some other alternatives I've used are:
- Lime curd, strawberries and shredded coconut
- Banana and honey
- Banana and peanut butter
- Cocoa and banana
All these things are added in the morning when reheating. Every 4 days I make a large batch of steel cut oats made from 1 cup oats, 5-6 cups of water, and 4 tablespoons of chia seeds. Divide by 4, and then each morning add 1/2 cup of almond milk and whatever flavour. Also, I know it sounds disgusting but for extra protein (if you're someone that needs protein in the morning to get to lunch) you can add egg whites while reheating the oats in the morning and it won't effect the taste at all.0 -
I put in 1/2 cup fruit - usually blueberries, strawberries, raspberries. blackberries or dark sweet cherries.0
-
I make them in the crockpot. 1 c oats, 3 1/2 c water, 1/2 c skim milk, and either 1 c dried fruit or 1 apple and raisins. I add cinnamon while cooking and sweetener after if needed. Cook on low all night.0

Definitely brown sugar, milk and salt.0

'Porridge' This is my kiddos favorite breakfast. I just add fresh or frozen berries and they are happy.
Less often, I will drizzle maple syrup and walnuts, with a splash of cinnamon. I guess you could add a banana to it.
We don't use real or fake sugars.
They are happiest if I splash on some milk or cream to cool it down0 -
I love steel cut oats! I put in a half banana , drizzle agave nectar and sprinkle cinnamon!0

Mashed banana and peanut butter.
Apple chunks, cinnamon.

I hate steel cut oats because they get stuck in my throat and teeth. I use old fashioned oats and I usually put cinnamon, raisins, crasins, berries, banana, almond milk, and honey in it. Cow's milk has a lot more calories/fat than almond and almond milk is healthier. If you want to add sugar you can, but I think honey or even agave nectar is sweeter.0

Apples cinnamon and nutmeg, cinnamon and raisin, REAL maple syrup and toasted walnuts, Chocolate chips, graham crackers and marshmallow fluff (Don't judge, it's a great dessert), peaches and vanilla yogurt with added vanilla extract as an over night oat, Strawberries, just plain old cinnamon, I've also added food coloring to kids oatmeal so it was more fun for them. Play around with it! Experimenting is fun!0

Oh! And a tablespoon of peanut butter and a banana!0

I love steel cut oats! I like mine a little runny so I always add 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk and then one of the following combinations:
- banana and walnuts
- banana and PB2 (plain or chocolate)
- dried cherries and 1Tbsp mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
- trail mix
- blueberries and pecans
- pumpkin puree and pepitas
... and then whatever spices you like (cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, etc.) and little sweetener (stevia, honey, brown sugar, maple syrup) if you want/need it a little sweeter.0 -
