Skinny fat?

Options
There seem to be a lot of posts talking about being 'skinny fat'.

I have no idea what that means, can someone explain?

Roughly - being thin, meaning, weighing a good or low weight for your height and looking nice in clothes, but still having pretty high body fat % and not looking as nice and tight naked.

^ Pretty much this. In weight loss terms, it means that a large percentage of your loss has come from lean body mass (muscle), leaving you skinny, but still with a high bodyfat percentage. A "skinny fat" person may look slender in clothes, but beneath the clothes they have a body which is "soft" looking, with no visible muscle definition and maybe still some visible fat deposits (i.e., tummy pooch, "bat wings" in the triceps area, etc.)

Compare the two images below from www.mybodygallery.com. Both are 5'3", 120 pound women - one is "skinny fat", the other is not:
