diaries when crossing time zones?

I'm just curious about what people do when they have very long extended days in terms of keeping up with their diaries. Today I am just up very late packing (I'll probably get 3 hours sleep). Tomorrow I'll be shifting 6 time zones and then back again next week.
When I did this several times last summer it completely messed up my diary for a few days because I couldn't figure out if I needed to stick to the calories I was supposed to and which day to log.
I know it doesn't matter in some sense in the real world, but I like to be really accurate in my diary and I can't figure out how to do it properly.

I would count my day from sleep to sleep, sticking with the date accurate where you left off in the morning.0
