I think you're over thinking. A lot.

I tell my husband I wub him
We do that too! :flowerforyou:
I'll say "I wub you" and he says "I love you too." And then I say, "No, I said I WUB you." and make him say it back :P0 -
There's a difference. Laziness. Sometimes I'm just too tired to get out the extra "I".
Does it make it less meaningful? Maybe just as much as hearing it for the 12,823rd time. I think you're reading too much into it.
This, but also, your ticker picture is my mom's Facebook profile picture, lol. It actually reminds me of her, she makes that face.0 -
I say love you all the time, i dont mean it any less than I love you… but thats just me0
-
"I love you" = I care for you deeply, you mean the world to me.
"love you" = I'm sleeping with your best friend, it's over, I just don't know how to break it to you.

We say "I love you" , "love you" , "lovers you", "luv dew" (which is returned with "luv dew too).
I don't think it's laziness at all but that's my personal relationship.....maybe if you are bothered by it your relationship is in trouble!0 -
I cupped her face in my hands, looked deep into her eyes and siad....I f***ing love you.

Honestly if someone is telling you they love you. Be happy. Stop looking for reasons to freak out.0 -
THANK YOU!! I AGREE!0

Overthinking.
In Spanish the I is understood and the proper phrase is Te amo. No self expression needed.
In French, one says je t'aime. Notice that Te you almost disappears into the love.
In German, one must say ich liebe dich. The "I" has a very necessary place and canny be dropped, the "you" is last and inversions are either almost impossible or awkward.
English has the possibility of having the I dropped; this makes it no less intense but tonality and attention can mean everything. Especially in writing, it can mean less to drop the I...0 -
'love you'
Do you think there is some sort of subconscious meaning behind the two?
Do you think if your partner were to just say 'love you' most of the time rather than saying 'I love you' there is much to be interpreted by that?
I'm an over-thinker and I'm just curious as to if other people think there is underlying meaning behind it or if it's nothing.
idk, but you are so pretty.0 -
Shouldn't make a difference what you say or how you say it... but if it's actually how you feel. I don't say it if I don't feel it. Not even in jest.0

I think sometimes people look for a problem when there isn't one. Self fufilling prophecy.0

Exactly what I was thinking.0 -
YES. Anything less than "I love you" drives me up a wall - call me high maintenance or b*tch or whatever you like, I need the sentence and it appears slightly half-hearted if you don't give it all you got. Just my two cents.0

'love you' is so casual...and yeah, I'm not into that. I say to my SO and i do expect a full "I love you too" in return.
'Love you' is what i might say to my kids..if i had any...or my parents...or grandparents.0 -
Over thinking it. Tone? Context?
Does he have a habit of using other 2 word sentences, which warrant cause for concern?
More beer. Sammich now. Watching game. Bedroom now.0 -
Definitely over thinking it... my husband will say love you alot but he also says "i love you" and every way to say i love you..
But i cant say "love ya" because thats more of a way to tell.a friend u love then atleast thats how my husband puts it lol0 -
Saying I love you make me really uncomfortable...so I'd normally say "You too" when he said he loved me.
My ex used to think it was about him but it wasn't. I'm just no good at expressing my feelings especially verbally (like not in writing) it had nothing to do with him.
I wouldn't worry about it.0 -
Ha, definitely something I've always pondered over! Girls in general tend to say "I love you!" to me even if we aren't very close friends...I do enjoy their company, so to be polite I respond with 'love you too'. I only say "I love you" to my best friend, and I really am sincere when I say the phrase in its entirety.0
-
I don't think there's a difference between those two, but if I say "luv" or "ily" or just it's because I don't want the other person to feel bad.0
-
I say "love you" as more of a hi/bye thing but I still mean it. But really if something is wrong in your relationship, you would have other signs besides something this petty.0
-
Yeah I think you're over thinking it! I think it's fine to just say "love you!". There's a time and place, I guess? If you're in a really mushy romantic situation then maybe an "I love you" would be more effective. In my opinion though, although simple, "love you" still means the same thing.0

ABSOLUTELY A DIFFERENCE! .... the laziness of only saying 'love you' transfers into the laziness of the relationship.
That is my belief. If my husband ever said 'love you' I would feel totally jipped!! And If I said 'love you' back... he would be like "wtf is going on" lol Anyone can say 'love you'... saying I LOVE YOU... means more. Just my opinion0 -
Id rather hear 'Love you' as hubby rushes out the door late for work, or hanging up the phone, late for a meeting than never hear it at all. I much prefer "I love you" when hes hugging on me, or we're snuggling up close. I hate acronymed affectations. the whole "i heart you," thing kinda ticks me off, it turns love into "the L-Word." Yarf. How "love" is expressed (context and tone) is more important than what choice of words they are using, and that's the bottom line. If hubby decided to just grunt at me instead of saying "I love you" he and I would have to have a chat, but I'm sure he'd grunt in a loving way and I'd likely get over it :P
Don't overthink things unless youre sure theres something there that needs to be thought about. Then - think away!0 -
I think any one can say I love you . its their actions that prove their words0
-
You should listen to More Than Words by Extreme...love that song, my fiance and I dance to it all the time0
