ANYTHING having to do with being buried alive. The buried alive scene is 'Vanishing' with Keiffer Sutherland.... gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Also when the villian moves all jerky and fast like in 13 Ghosts... I think it was the Jackal? *shudder*

It gets me when you don't see anything at all through most of the movie. You know the villain is there somewhere, so you start anticipating him and every shadow/noise/movement suddenly becomes him in your imagination.

The only scene in any horror movie in the last 15+ years that has gotten to me was in Dead Silence and it was the scene where the main character is in the crawl space or attic or whatever searching around in the dark and all of the sudden the creepy old lady face appears in the dark.

I nearly soiled myself in that moment.

Other than that I've damn near every major horror movie and a ton of the b grade ones as well and haven't seen anything else that really got to me.

Finger nail scene in Stir of Echoes

The Exorcism of Emily Rose when her "bf" wakes up and she's all contorted on the floor and says "help me".

On Nightmare on Elm St. The only scene that really makes me feel uncomfortable is when Freddy Krueger is killing that chick in her dream, and in real life her body is flipping around in mid air, getting slashed from the inside and stuff.

It was designed to look like a rape scene, which is probably why its so disturbing.

    The final scene of "Carrie."

I know it's coming - I prepare myself for it - but every time I almost pee myself with fright.

^^This, I hate that and normally have to look away - which for anything else I never do. So glad we don't really have then in the UK.

Not generic, but I have a specific one...From Don't be Afraid of the Dark...When the little girl is searching her sheets for the weird demented pixie things...You KNOW something's gonna jump out at you, but you're never completely prepared.

I havent seen Mothman Prophecies.. Its on my instant que for things to watch. Now I'm going to be paranoid of lipstick while watching it.

All in all, what do you think of the movie?

Oh oh oh, Signs, I agree. That scene, and the scene where you just see his reflection in the TV freaks me out so badly and I don't even know why. Haven't seen any of the others mentioned, thanks for giving me a movie list!

I know it's cliche now, but creepy, dirty, pale girl who moves jerkily and has her creepy dirty hair obscuring her pale dirty face.

Have you seen the previews for Sinister. The horror genre seems to currently be based around random, disturbing images and that appears to be the entire plot of this movie. Just a bunch of ****ing disturbing images. Like every scary movie preview you've seen in the last...five years, say, combined together into a full length feature film. Not going to be seeing that.
  • Anything involving nails.
Or something jumping out at the tv. Scares the shiz out of me everytime!

This too. In the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake (or reboot/reimagining/ whatever the hell you want to call it) the fact that everyone of those damn hillbillies is in on it. You can't go anywhere for help because they're just going to keep taking you back to the psycho! Yeesh.

Insects/arthropods crawling out of people's mouths, ears, other holes. Not that that's limited to horror movies; it can be seen plenty on CSI.

People getting attacked via the toilet. Been a long, long time since I've seen C.H.U.D., but wasn't there a scene of them attacking from a toilet? Maybe it was only on the VHS cover.

Wish I had time to really think about this because I'm a huge horror movie fan, but off hand I remember Children of the Corn being the first movie that freaked me out and the original Damien: The Omen and Rosemary's baby - no details I can remember right now, but I do recall those movies making me "think".

I was watching Bones last night on TV, and there was a scene where the remains of a dead body, ended up on a guy who was trying to get a car unstuck from the mud... and it was like whatever was left from this dead guys face was plastered onto the guys stomach when he fell in the mud... I was nauseus after seeing that

Any electric chair scenes - especially in "The Green Mile." I always have to fast forward or leave the room during the one particular scene with Del ...

Anything to do with ghosts, spirits, etc. "Insidious" is probably the most horrible movie I've seen in a while. So many unexpected weird creatures, jumping out at you.....yikes. I jump a foot high everytime.
