Traveling to NYC - pick best fast food restaurants for me

Oh, and for sure NO trip to NYC is complete without a visit to a Juniors Cheesecake. They are legendary and deservedly so. All kinds of cheesecake. If you like cheesecake you'll probably want to go back more than once. You'll find them at the Grand Central Train Station. This is also near where the shuttle buses go to/from LaGuardia Airport, so if you don't get a shuttle from the hotel, you may be very near this cheesecake when you arrive and when you depart. I always pick up one to eat on the way to the airport!
I agree. I always go to Juniors in Brooklyn for a breakfast followed by Cheesecake at least once when I'm in town. It is worth the trip and a short walk from the subway.0 -
You might want to take a look at this review:

five guys, cheescake, chocolate, hot dogs, pizza, burrito
looks like I'm going to eat all non stop :laugh:0 -
If you eat at Chipotle's keep in mind a Chicken Burrito has 1,092 calories and 2,300 mg of sodium. You could eat their Crispy steak tacos for 543 calories but that still has a boatload of sodium at 1,379 mg.
At Taco Bell, internationally known Chef Lorena Garcia has a bunch of new menu items there listed under their "Cantina Bell" --- tasty and authentic, while being a little bit healthier option. Lower sodium, lower calories, authentic to Mexican style and really yummy. I esp like their guacamole, closer to homemade tasting.0 -
Martucha, have a "street vendor" hot dog ... I usually get them with chili and sauerkraut and am teased about trying to hit all food groups on a bun! They are delicious. I try not to think about the calories with those ... but worth it.0

But she wanted fast food and probably won't take the time to go to Brooklyn.
Going to Brooklyn from Manhattan takes about 5 minutes. I know, I make the trip nearly every day.
But it really doesn't matter how long it takes, since I think she didn't like any of my suggestions anyway. Oh, well, I tried.
Do you teleport? The only way to get from Mantahattan to Brooklyn in 5 minutes is if you start the clock as the train arrives at the platform at Clark Street (or High Street) and stop it when the doors open at Wall Street. The Mexican places suggested were in Sunset Park. I live in Brooklyn and it takes me over a half hour to get to Sunset Park.
Most tourists don't make it to Brooklyn - especially on short visits. Do they miss out - of course but Manhattan has so much to offer and so much to do that they will find more than enough to do and eat without visiting us Brooklynites.
Manahattan Fast Food that I like:
Shake Shack - ITS A MUST!! several locations
Crumbs - ist a bakery they sell ridiculous cupcakes - several locations
Five Guys Burgers
Also there are a lot of really good food trucks around the city: http://www.refinery29.com/nyc-best-food-trucks
- Morris (grilled cheese)
- Kelvin (slushies)
- Waffles and Dinges
- Frites& Meats
- Treats Truck (desserts)
I would get my mexican from a truck rather than chipotle. Try El Diablo Tacos, Mexicue, CalexicoCart

if you're going to Chipotle, beware of hidden calories in things like their salad dressing. yes, it's delicious, but I really don't think it's any "healthier" than McDonalds or any others... this might be useful: http://www.chipotlefan.com/index.php?id=nutrition_calculator
I second the Maoz Vegetarian places - it's like a falafel place with a GREAT salad bar you can pile high on your sandwich/platter. http://www.maozusa.com/
Pizza is a must coming to NYC - Grimaldi's is a waste, even if you wanted to take the trip to Bklyn and wait 3 hours in the line. - my favorite is Joe's on Carmine Street in the West Village - http://www.joespizzanyc.com/
for other healthy options, Le Pain Quotidien is a great one - they have fantastic soups, salads and vegan options and they're scattered all over the city: http://www.lepainquotidien.us/#/en_US/locations/new_york/see_all
another favorite of mine is Yorganic: http://yorganicnewyork1.com/ (but there are only 2 locations I'm aware of)
and you'll also see a bunch of these Energy Kitchens all over that are also great - everything is baked, nothing over 500 calories - http://www.energykitchen.com/
Believe it or not, you will only see the McDonalds and Burger Kings around the really lame touristy places - WTC, Times Square, Empire State Building, etc.... if you want to see these things, fine, but venture a good 5-10 blocks in any direction to find decent food.
There are a lot of healthy fast food options in NYC though.0 -

I also recomend these places. The Yorganic near my office has a fro-yo happy hour! Half price after 3:00 pm! SO GOOD!0 -
I think taco bell is gross. I've been to Mexico and it tasted nothing like taco bell, didn't taste like any texmex style places we have here either but certainly didn't remind me of taco bell.0

SHAKE SHACK. Honestly. I went to NYC back in May and I'm planning another trip just to go back there again. It's heavenly.0

Going to NYC and you want fast food? Hit one of the pizza places, for sure. Go some place you've never heard of. See if you can't find one of those awesome basement delis. Part of the fun of NYC when I visited there back in March, was to just explore and see what you can find. There are so many awesome places for food there, it's amazing!0

Make sure you get bagels and pizza! You should just go to Yelp.com and do a search of the area you will be in. Don't waste your money on the fast food, there's nothing special about it in NY that you can't get anywhere else. If you must get fast food get Taco Bell or Wendy's.
You can also get some really good Chinese and Sushi if your into it.0 -
Please, for the love of all things holy, DO NOT eat at a fast food chain in New York City!
Shake Shack for burgers.
Murray's for bagels.
Grey's Papaya for hot dogs.
Lombardi's for pizza.0 -
Dang I want to go to NYC now too, just for the food! lol0

For amazing ribs go to Blue Smoke! There's one one 27th bet. Lexington Ave. and Park Ave. south and one downtown on Vesey opposite World Financial. There's also a Shake Shack right around the corner but we love Blue Smoke!0
