How many calories do YOU burn during a 'good' workout?

It is hard to determine how many calories we burn after resistance training. But really who cares the good thing is it just keeps burning for hours later. Whereas most cardio workouts purely burn calories while being performed.

I just posted a similar question yesterday. With my HRM, I burn about 300-400, but am trying to increase that to 500-600. If I went by my apps and MFP, I'd already be there. But I want to REALLY be there!
I agree the HRM is the REAL burn0 -
Cardio - 250 - 400 per session
Weights & Strength - 150 - 300 per session
I usually exercise for 30 - 50 mins per session
I'm 5'1" and weigh 110lb0 -
I try for 10 calories per minute. So a 30 minute workout would be 300, or a 60 minute workout would be 600.
This is about how it works out for me. I am 5'8" and 145 lbs. Burning is an uphill battle at a healthy weight.0 -
Swimming: 300-450
Bike: 700-1500
Walking: 150-2000 -
I average about 500 with using an HRM at my usual interval class. It's enough for me and I love getting the calorie cushion:)0

Depends, during a HIIT workout I only burn around 150-200 calories, but those are KILLER workouts and I feel like dying when Im finished. Generally though a good workout for me is 10 calories for every minute, which for my height/weight is a good intensity workout. I also find a really good weightlifting session to be awesome, but it doesn't necessarily burn a lot of calories0

For those who use MFP's numbers, you need a HRM. MFP numbers are ridiculously high.0

I just got back from the gym the elliptical machine said I burned 400 calories in 30 min, my Kcal 226 ( I have got to learn the difference!) I am always getting different numbers from different sources, I never know which to believe.0

I don't use a HRM, but I do wear a Fitbit. Not sure how accurate the calorie burn is, but my average is around 400 calories. That includes 30 minutes warm up, 30 minutes of lifting, and 30-45 minutes of cardio. I'm small, so I don't burn as much. :grumble:0

I'm 6'4" and still north of 260#, so I still get a decent burn rate with steep walking on a treadmill. 700 cals is my personal absolute minimum for a workout unless I have to stop for crisis situation. Last night I "only" did 750 because I was holding up the cleaning crew (workplace gym has 2 hr closure at night; didn't notice sign before)... but I did that it 45 min including warm-up/cool-down. My usual burn rates avg 15 cals/min at 85% MHR, so I can get 900cal/hr in a standard workout. Currently I do 3.0-3.4 mph at 9-11% the entire time, with 5-6m intervals at 15% (20 cals/min).
When I was still north of 290#, I could burn 1000-1100 cals/hr at much lower inclines, so I'm well aware of the tradeoffs between weight and burn rate.0 -
using my HRM, in a 45 minute spin class, between 950-1100. Outdoor running, 45 minutes, around 800-1000. But I'm a bigger guy and have plenty to move around.0

Usually around 300 calories is a good workout for me.0

When I take a run, my runkeeper ap usually tells me around 450, for 40 minutes. When biking, it's usually around 350 for a 30 minute ride, or well over 400 if I'm really pushing it..0
-
Usually 350-400 in bootcamp or circuits or just my own gym workout and then another 250ish on the elliptical while I'm taking a break from running. But if I run, it's usually about 106 cals/mile so depends on how far I go. I aim to burn about 500 a day. So if bootcamp didn't pay off as much, I hit the elliptical.0
