A rant about ''friends''

6% of the people on my very tiny friends list are dudes.
does that meet with your approval, or should i take corrective action?
Like I said... It's 0% that's bothers me, something about that just puts me off.
so i guess you're not a big fan of fat free milk then, huh?

I don't really see the problem. In real life, most of my friends are male. I'm not a girly girl and I don't want to have to talk about girly topics. Some of my guy friends mostly hang out with women, because they're not into the whole bromance thing. It's not a flirty thing, it's just a preference. Besides, on this site there's so many more women than men that it's hard to have more guy friends.
It could be that you are right, it could also be you are reading too much into this. If it disturbs you, just delete them and be done with it.0 -
I only have female friends and i dont feel im creepy. I rarely look at peoples profiles and only talk to most ppl on there status just to motivate them with a "way to go" or something. I had one male friends i defriended him because he posted a status ever min, seriously, he treated this like twitter or facebook. He was annoying, im not here to look at pic, im here to motivate. Also to me, it seems like the females get more out of the motivation than the men imo.0

I have many male friends, and they're absolutely awesome.0

I've noticed there are a lot of "chubby chasers" on this website. Then there are the gentlemen that are actually trying to lose weight and those are the ones that I have mounds of respect for **women alike**..0

Hey, do what I do.....be incredibly self-absorbed, dull, sarcastic and un-likeable, and have no internet friends OR real friends. All my friends loathe me, problem solved......hurrah!!!
That, or make your profile picture a weird eyeball.0 -
Women will reach out to anyone, men and other women. But men just naturally feel more comfortable reaching out to women. I personally don't care if they're only friends with other women, its perfectly normal as far as I'm concerned. I'm not hot, so maybe that's why I don't care, but whatever, I'll friend anyone regardless of their other friends.0

I Agree, it would feel akward to ask a man to be my friend, lol0 -
Considering this site is overloaded with females, I don't find it creepy nor would I make an assumption about someone based on who is on their FL.
i so agree, unless every single girl on that list was in a bikini, lol0 -
I'm not saying that it can't, everyone's welcome to have their fun, but i personally only want friends for motivation and support, I have no interest in using it as a dating site.
This sounds like the perspective of someone already in a relationship. Try to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is not. Do you know how difficult it is to meet compatible singles? The dating websites are inefficient (largely ineffective as well), the bar scene is a waste, Meetups are usually not that much better than random bar nights. The best means is working the friend of friend network to find dates. But what is your friend of friend network is weak? I see no reason not to use MFP as a way of finding dates, because there's likely some degree of compatibility. As far as the web goes, I think it is a better option than the dating websites. Given all that, dating is not my focus, but if I were to find a compatible single person on here in my age range and location, I'd be interested.0 -
As long as they are a friend to me, giving and getting support to/from me, then it's really none of my business who their other friends are. If i have a man on my FL that kicks my butt when im failing, gives me kudo's when im doing well, etc.. i dont care if he has 5500 friends and they are all women... why would i?0

and what if there was a lesbian with all female friends...... delete her too?....... lol0

Oh this is a new thread topic.
A post where the Op takes the entire "friend" portion on a calorie counting
website way too personally.
Hrm.0 -
I have friends of both genders, but I will openly admit to having accepted or sent friend requests to some man candy. Life is short, look at those SHOULDERS...
I'm sorry, what was I saying?0 -
I just wanna delete people who don't log in. it's getting to me. At first I was deleting people who didn't log in for 2 wks. then if you didn't log in a week you were gone. but today I deleted some that hadn't logged in for 3-5 days. kept some others that had been gone 3-5 days too, I kept the ones I've had interaction with. if we never interact, I can't recall anything about you or your life or diet, and you can't log in for days...bye. I dont know why it is so annoying to me but I think I just want friends who are taking this as seriously as I do.0

When I first joined I admit I was of the same thinking... but now if they want to ogle my pictures then who am I to spoil their fun? I'm not innocent of doing the same.
Different strokes for different folks. Hi boys! :drinker:0 -
How about you people work the knots out of your panties and encourage people and MAYBE, if you MUST, judge them on their ability to GET IT DONE and EAT WELL, and leave their personal choices on when to log in or who to be friends with to them?
Overthinking it, party of apparently a WHOLE FREAKING BUNCH,0 -

So basically you go to peoples profiles, and so "oh, he only has female friends" let he MUST be a perv. let me delete him? thats judging a book by its cover..0

You've stolen my brain - give it back (I need it)!0 -

*this* Don't be TOOOO quick to judge, OP. I just looked at my friend list, only 5 of the 14 are dudes. The first one introduced me to this site, and the other 4 caught my attention with their advice/posts in the forums. For the first month or so I was only focused on logging. Recently I started participating in the forums and since then most of my friend requests have been to females. It wasn't deliberate, it's just that those were the posts that made me think, "Hey, this person sounds like somebody I'd to hang out with in real life... knowledgeable, witty, and supportive." No alterior motives here as I've always had a few few more female friends versus male friends in real life. Although now in the back of my mind I might start trying to even out the ratio by a smidge to keep it from looking creepy. Dammit, now you got me second-guesing myself! :mad:0 -

This guy, every word the same for me too.
I think some people are just way too concerned with what everyone else is doing. I can't imagine looking at my MFP friends and paying enough attention to THEIR friends list enough to ever come to this conclusion.0 -
yup creeps me out too!
And I'd like to tell them to . . . . .

I don't really care what other people do here-I am too busy with my own life. The only reason I delete people is for lack of support!0
-
You can do what you want with your friends list, but I think you are overthinking this, a bit.0
