Weight lifting for beginners? Any good guides?

Hi! So since joining MFP I keep seeing everyone say that weight lifting is a good exercise for losing weight and is beneficial and so I thought I'd try it out! But I have absolutely, 100%, NO idea what anything weight lifting related means or any idea on how to start.. or anything!

Are there any good guides or tutorials or anything that will help me get started??

Also I'm a petite person (short and small boned) and my wrists are small (smaller than a child's) and weak.. will this be a problem?
