Desperate for "female" answers

I am feeling EXTREMELY bloated due to my monthly nightmare and I just measured myself out of curiosity. I am a full inch bigger in my hips and waist!!!! Is this normal? What is going on??? I feel like a balloon that desperately needs to be popped. I'm so swollen, especially in my midsection, I am miserable. It can't be sodium related because I have not upped my salt intake at all. This "time" has been especially rough this month, could that have anything to do with it? Help!!!

It's totally normal! I always know when mind is coming because I can barely fit into my jeans for 3 days prior! I get really puffy. I force myself to drink a lot of water, stay away from foods that I know will bloat me and don't miss the gym.
Just relax! It will pass and you're not alone.0 -
If it bothers you that much, do see your doctor.0

I'm a freak of nature and LOSE weight during TOM. I'm sure it's normal though to be bloated that much. I know the feeling of total yuckiness though, I don't have to retain water for that one.0

Normal. Drink a bunch of water and try Midol to reduce bloating.0

Completely normal. You'll go back to normal soon enough, don't stress.0

Yeah I get like that too. I've never measured, but I always feel like a balloon. Some months worse than others.0

I put on 5lb and don't fit into my trousers - it's how i know my totm is coming up. It's completely normal - exercising & drinking lots of water helps.0

Sometimes I get so bloated I need to wear stretchy pants because my jeans/dress pants don't fit comfortably0

It's normal to be more bloated. Mind you, make sure you are getting enough iron. If your period gets heavier than you're used to, it could be a sign of anemia.0

I notice you are close to my age and there seems to be more variation in severity lately... Hang in there, you will feel great in a couple more days!0

MFP threads really make me think that our education systems are failing in the areas of sexual autonomy, reproduction, etc0

You might find this link useful, it's on how to control some of the bloating with diet (it's water retention not fat): http://www.marilynglenville.com/womens-health-issues/pre-menstrual-syndrome/
No fun, but normal.0 -
It can be normal but I know I have to also be mindful of things I eat, like dairy, beans and potatoes.0

I've had pants that used to fit be painfully tight for a few days. It's normal.0

Ditto!! I tend to lose double digits during my monthlies.0 -
I really don't notice a lot of change, maybe a pound or something, but my clothing generally still fits fine. However I also get virtually no cramps and such so I am lucky that way (cept that sometimes it's impossible to tell when it's coming so I have to be on top of things)0

I get like that when I'm constipated. lol0

I'm at a loss that anyone over the age of 13 even needs to ask this!0

Obviously, I did not make myself clear. Of course I know the reason is my period. I just wondered about the sudden gain of inches. This had never happened before. I regret giving some of you the opportunity to leave nasty/insulting responses. To everyone else kind enough to lend me words of wisdom/support, I am deeply grateful.0

Yes, some people haven't learned what should have been learned in kindergarten. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.0 -
It is normal. I always blow up that time of the month. Which is why I'm waiting a week to measure myself this month.0
